Default Ford missing the export boat again.

I was working in South Africa last week. GM over there is selling a huge chunk of the Holden range badged as Chevrolet Lumina. Sedans, wagons and utes with V6, 5.7 V8 and 6.0 V8s. Prices quite good, about 6 to 8k over the AU price. Ford only sell the Territory there.

South Africa's economy is booming like ours on the baack of coal, Iron ore and uranium. Ford AU should get back into the market. I lived there as a kid and remeber all to well the Aus Fords and Holdens badged as Chevs.

Come on Ford of Australia, they want large right hand drive cars. Get some onto a ship ASAP. Its a ready market.

Just a view.

Steve

I saw an EF XR6 over there a few years back too. Kinda stops you in your tracks when everything else is a volkswagen or small van.

I thought there was serious talk of the Territory going there though..???

Not enough. :

FoMoCo Australia need to get moving on this one, if they want to be a viable business they need to follow the likes of Toyota & Hyundai. Sell more of our product overseas, come on fellas! Think globally :

There are a couple of regular Territory section members in SA. I'd reckon RTV would sell Ok there, not to mention RipCurl XR ute.

Don't count on decent exports until ~2011-12 when the Falcon moves to a new chassis. North America and the mid east are both still locked out for FoA.
