Just some last minute advice for the 8's.... When your over taking one of those slow pesky 6's, please give them a wide birth as there is a very good chance that you will suck one off the road and lodge into your air intake....

Rod..... You delusional if you think the 6's are going to win.... I am predicting a V8 victory buy at least 2sec lap average.......

Victory to the V8's

had an awesome day thanks guys
bit of a mix up by Ken at the end of the day. :
My Xr6 equaled the fastest lap for the day and I did average at least 3 seconds a lap faster than the typhoon who took home the trophy.
I missed my 2 seconds of glory and came home empty handed!
never mind ken I know it was an honest mistake under pressure.

I really had a fantastic day and what a venue.

Congratulations goes to all who shoed up to make it a successfull day.

Awesome support by Mal and Nathan.

All sponsors and members should be very proud.

Cant wait till next time.

I am desperate to see how the day went. I spoke to Chris at 8.30 and he was pretty stoked that he won the fastest lap time and also the best average for the 8's.

I stayed home for sport committments with the girls otherwise I would have been racing for the 6's. Certainly won't miss it next time. Would love to see some pics.

Once again another terrific day. : Weather perfect, great track, nice bunch of people and all those awesome cars. :sm_headba Does anybody know the count of how many cars there were today? As usual there was an amazing turnout certainly more than the last time. We sure do make quite a presence on the road, and we think most people would have gone home with a big smile on their face. :eclipsee_ Looking forward to the next event. You guys rock!!! :thebirds: Sorry 6's, looks like the 8's 8 you. Ha! Ha! : out: :hihi: :

Cheers

Again sorry for the stuff up Paul and thanks for being understanding. There was a bit of time pressure at the end for the results but Ken has promised you a congratulary hug next time he see's you. ;)

Thanks to all for a great day and especially to the marshalls, the "fun" keepers, the cook and co., and all who helped out.

P.S. Does anyone know if Vegabass made it home this time? :nutsycuck

G'day All,

Well for an event that looked like it was going to be pulled due to lack of numbers it certainly was a great day.

There were 44 cars on the track, some a couple of times as there was two drivers in the one car. I hope all had enough track time (yeh I know there is no such thing) as we tried to ensure that we used our 4 hours wisely.

I will "sanitize" the fun lists for both the sixes and the eights very shortly and get them up here and as such I will save my congrats to the winners for then.

I would like to thank verybody that helped out:

Amount of Fun Keepers - They have a thankless job standing in the sun all afternoon and often getting pestered by people wanting to see the results and not believing what was taken. Thank you so much team, without your valuable work there would be no 6 v 8 trophy as there would be nothing to measure by. Great job yet again. Oh a special thanks to the most enthusiastic flag waver I have ever seen up in the tower, Kerri, awesome job (she had a blister on her finger from waving the chequered flag so much).

Marshals - Grant and his track marshals did a great job looking after the cars on the track and in the pit lane, again in the sun all day. Well done men.

BBQ Chris - The fastest snags in the West, thanks mate. Also thank you for towing the trailer up and back. This is something that is not always thought of but it does place an extra fuel burden on who ever tows the trailer so it is always much appreciated.

The Girls - Glenda, Rose and Sue for their unfliching enthusiasm in the face of thrusting dollar bills and reams of paperwork.

Remember that all of those above never got to see the event let alone participate in it so it makes their efforts even more special.

Now having said all that the reason we do all this is for the clubbies both spectators and participants alike. Without you guys supporting an event like this then it would be all in vien. I was glad to see so many happy faces at the end of the day and I even had a phone call later in the night from someone that left the track not so happy but was fine by the time they got home.

I have saved the most thanks for last. Firstly to Mal Wood. Mal your support of this club is amazing, which was demonstrated again yesterday by coming out and supporting the day and by donating the Major Raffle prize of the Mal Wood Clutch Package, Team Larko are thrilled to win the prize. Thanks once again Mal.

Now if you remember the title of the day "Herrod Motorsport Sixes v Eights Challenge" then you know we all need to thank Nathan from Herrod on the Gold Coast for his company's support of the day. Thanks Nathan the sponsorship helped make the day the success it was. You are a Champ.

Now if you are all still awake after that lot then stick with me as I will be back soon with some results.

Cheers,

Ken

Default An Awesome day winners are grinners

Congrats to the entire events team on a job well done, enabeling the rest of us to enjoy ourselves emensly.

The Mighty XR 8's did the club proud showing the 6's who really is boss.

Any Photos of the coyote would be greatly appreciated this is the best one I got, to save showing every one else up they can be e-mailed directly to chris@onspotpaint.com the more the merrier, particularly if you have one with a trophy LOL

Great to see the sponsors out at the track and they always make the event that bit more special, and their advise invaluable.

Thanks also to Mitch for keeping Mat occupied (not to mention Lissa and Rob)

Once again the XR CLUB of QLD pumps out another outstanding event, thanks to everyone that organized and ran the day, it was sensational!

Many thanks to club sponsors Mal Wood from Mal Wood Automotive and Nathan from Herrods at Southport..

The Morgan Park track and facilities are excellent and now that I’ve had a chance to do some flying laps I can understand why the track received so much praise from those that went last year. December can't come quick enough. :

Also, thanks Jabba for leading the V8's to victory, I’m sure we'll come up trumps again later in the year. :voldar02:

The only way to top off a terrific day was to unwind at the local with a good feed and a few tubes. :baby bott

off to watch V8's now, GO FORD!

How elequantly put Jabba...
So many people to thank and so many people to bore with huge post!
Thanks firstly to Mal Wood, Rob and I are over the moon having won such an excellent prize and were more than impressed with the interest and attention Mal paid to us regarding fitting the new kit We have never won anything before and we are thrilled to have 'scored bigtime'...
Thanks to the boys at the BBQ Rob and Chris sorry if i missed anyone, they were the best snags and certainly keep our nervous tummies full....
Thanks to all the fun keepers and everyone else who helped out on the track you guys are the unsung heros who sacrafice a day at the track to make ours so much better....
Thanks to Chris and Glenda for putting up with my terror of a son breaking into there room every five minutes, and letting him score the chips...
Thanks also to Herrods for my excellent trophy i have never won a personal trophy before and was more than extatic to have recieved one on the day....It was my first time on the track and as Ken said i was shaking like a leaf, I was unsure at first if i could even put the clutch in my leg was shaking so much, I realise that my driving style was a little unconventional ie indicating to go onto the track indicating to go round corners and best of all braking waaaaaaaayyyyyyy before i had to but hey i had fun and i had a go, A BIG thanks to all who were out on the track with me Tori and Matt P just to name 2 your patience was greatly appreciated, and if nothing else i gave everyone a good giggle...Best of all I now really have a story to tell all the Mums at Playgroup!!!!!!!
Thanks to Ken and Sue for your great support and kind words after the day..

Lissa
Ps Please post away with pics of our car License plate showing is fine
Black AU XR6 with the Shaker
Pps Thanks Matty for putting up with Mitch and no worries Chris, was more to our benifit than yours I am sure.lol.

To the winners congratulations, both individuals and teams, well done. To the Sixes all I can say is you have to be in it to win it and as you can see there was almost double the amount of Eights as you guys, they just swamped you.

If there are any ideas on how the next event could be done or things changed to make it better then send any suggestions to me at management@xrclub.com and I will look at them.

A full table with complete names will be sent out via private email.

Cheers,

Ken

WOW, What a day!

I was over the moon about how everything was done! The best bit I was 3 seconds quicker than last time, I wasn’t pushing as hard and to top it off I didn’t need that spare engine. In fact my car has never been stronger!

Thanks to all the sponsors and the club (Inc committee) with out you guys I wouldn’t have this huge smile!

And to Tori and Lynton for looking after accommodation for me cheers : , Rob, Lissa and pesky kids you guys crack me up! Geoff and Genelle who came out after the wedding just to socialise, you guys rock!
Oh yeah Matt P and his dad cheers for traveling all that way and thanks for the use of your wheel nut! (That sounds odd doesn’t it!)

Ken next time your F6 has some catching up to do!

Jabba, Congrats on the win for the 8's but you spinning off onto the grass on your warmdown lap was priceless

And I give permission for pics of my car. Green EL XR6

The TE or the TS ? I have a few more of both. Have a few nice ones of a Green XR6, around the EL vintage if not mistaken too. Still running through pics. Once I have them all up I'll put a link to the website that will host them.

You know it's funny you miss things when looking through the lens of a camera all day, but I think a certain team captain may not have had his bonnet locked down on one of his runs (well for one cool down lap anyway) ;) ...

Cheers

What a great day thank you to every one who made the day possible Mal and Nathan for the sponsership the funkeepers and track marshals the ladies shuffling paper all day the boys on the barby the snags were bute. I hope everone had a great day I know I saw a huge amount of smiling faces during the day.
Well done to Rob Drew and Rod for some scorching times in naturally aspirated sixes, Lissa you were fine on the track holding a nice line round the corners. Tori and Lynton looked like they was had`a ball in the SP they both stayed nice and cool with the a/c on too I heard. Its great to be involved with such a great group of people and I hope next time the eights get smoked and get to eat some humble pie.

Im also glad not many people saw me use pit entry as an escape road onto the main straight as my approach on the last corner was a bit strange and untidy.

Thanks again to everyone for a great day.

Feel free to post any pictures of the blue turbo ute too preferably the passenger side as the other one is a bit untidy.

Cheers
Matt

You know it's funny you miss things when looking through the lens of a camera all day, but I think a certain team captain may not have had his bonnet locked down on one of his runs (well for one cool down lap anyway) ;) ...
