Wink HOLDEN Pulls Adds From CALIFORNICATION !!!!!!

ADVERTISERS yesterday expressed surprise their commercials had appeared during Channel 10's controversial Californication program.

Both the Holden and Holeproof companies yesterday confirmed they had pulled advertisements from the show after they aired in the first episode.

Spokesmen for both advertisers said they made the decision after customer complaints and were yesterday praised by Christian groups for doing so.

Religious groups have also called for a boycott of the program by sponsors as it depicts explicit sex scenes, language, drug use and lewd behaviour by its star David Duchovny.

But other companies contacted were unaware their commercials had appeared in Monday's second episode. That included film distributor Buena Vista, Flora Pro-Activ, Wrigley's, and Tooheys New beer-maker Lion Nathan.

Buena Vista had placed ads for its Pixar children's animated film Ratatouille, about a rat working as a chef in a Parisian restaurant.

"That's a surprise to us and obviously that program does not fit the demographic we are chasing," a spokeswoman said. "We should have been alerted."

The situation arose because the companies had booked "spot" ads, which Ten would place in different programs aimed at target demographics.

While agencies would have been alerted which shows their ads would air in, none of the above firms knew until alerted by The Daily Telegraph.

A Lion Nathan spokeswoman said it was happy to have its beer promoted during the show and said complaints should be directed to Free TV Australia.

I never watch much TV, but I like this new show.

My view is that TV is TV. As long as it is recognised as entertainment and not as a prescription on how to life your life, then let it be. I watched a bit of it, not for me, but I am not disgusted by it.

I do go to church and many people there are condemning it, but it's TV. That's what the power button is for.

If you don't like it, then don't watch it! Unless someone holds a gun to your head you have a choice FFS!

I don't like the do gooder Christian shows, so I turn the thing off! Seriously I could not live in a bubble like these people. :

Couldn't have said it better. Short of the situation involving channel 10 pointing a gun a someone else's head and making them watch the show, I'm pretty sure bible bashers protesting the show are wasting their time. Idiots. Go and play canasta or something.

CH 10 would be loving this, so many people who didn't watch last weeks will watch it this week just to see what the fuss is all about. I know I will.

It's a good show I reckon. Obviously easier to complain than to use the remote for these knobs :

Of course, the do-gooders are just compelled to watch these shows, just to protect the rest of us from harm.. not one of them is actually enjoying any of it.

Holden are very clever at marketing pulling the add has given them more publicity now everyone is now talking about it ''Holden'' at the same time saved heaps of cash on advertising during prime time, no doubt the money will be spend on another advertising assault....they have also won the brownie points from the Christian groups.
The Holden/HSV Marketing Machine keeps rolling on..

Goodness gracious people the original post states that Holden's CUSTOMERS complained to them NOT CHRISTIANS!!!! The christian groups praised Holdens actions.

I was absolutely devastated when I watched the first 10 minutes of the very first episode after it was taped for me.

Let’s see…

The first episode showed a Ford GT ( The US one ) and two sets of boobies in the first 10 bloody minutes. I was outraged, so I rang the local church to complain. Reverend Lovejoy told me to “get a life” and never to bother him while he’s watching the Jerry Springer Show again.

I think it's an excellent show!!! Yes the chick from The Nanny is all grown up and she grew up right!

It's been said, if you don't like it don't watch it. The bible bashers are worried about the kiddies. Well if the kids are watching it at 9.30pm then I suggest they should blame the parents, not the makers of the show.

Fairly typical of right wing religious groups who believe that there way is the only way.

Like so many have previously said,CHANGE THE FU#%ING CHANNEL.

Seems obvious that Holden are standing firm for the values of their company and their customers. Hetrosexuality is Wrong.

There's a hell of a difference between pulling your advertising that you're paying for that in their opinion isn't being shown to the demographic they're trying to target vs trying to get the show banned completely from being broadcast.

Holden and holeproof aren't stating a moral judgement about the show. Lion Nathan weren't concerned and nor should they have been, I was drinking their beer last episode I watched (without ads).

exactly right. We should be asking ourselves "What Porn Would jesus watch, and then, what underwear would he be wearing while he, ahem, Did the Business and then, which car would he choose to drive afterwards?"

Frankly I think the whole bunch of them deserve a Reality Slap.
Christianity can look after the christians, I'm not one, so they can keep their noses out of what I watch, think and do, instead of shoving their values down everyones throats. Holden can look after the metrosexuals, im not one, so pulling their advertising had zero effect on me, and as for wearing holeproof underwear, its worthwhile going commando for the next few weeks atleast.

I have not seen the show yet, but obviously doesn't breach any regs, is of a late hour, and people make their decisions with their remotes. I don't see the problem.

We all know that Jesus would be in to that bondage stuff (getting nailed on a cross and all). I don't know which underware company makes loin cloth's, but I am sure that any old rag would do. I am sure he would drive a LTD hurst to pile all the leppers in that he could not cure.
