Default Jack Daniel's Old No 7 Whiskey & Cradle 1.75L or Jim Beam 1795 Bourbon

Hey guys,

Just wanted some advice as Im buying some bourbon as a gift. I asked my mate straight up what he wanted and he has instructed me a bottle of Jack was sufficient. He has helped me quite a bit and I wanted to get something a little special rather than your run of the mill $40 job, I was looking at either Jack Daniel's Old No 7 Whiskey & Cradle 1.75L or was told Jim Beam 1795 Bourbon is pretty good. Now my question is, to the bourbon drinkers; which one should i buy? Seems its gonna be quantity vs exclusivity....what do you guys think. BTW he's a mid 50s guy, pretty much sticks to what he knows, if you know what i mean.......Cheers

If he wants Jack I say get the Jack, but the content is no different to the 700ml bottle.

Gentleman Jack is a VERY nice drink. If he likes Jack he should love GJ.

I never needed fake ID as a kid, I was about 6'1 when I was 15/16 and had a better beard than most of my friends my age (21) do even these days

Damn kids.

I bought a mate a 4L bottle of jim beam (yea for the 2nd time i know he said "jack") on a craddle at dan murpheys for around the $250.
I only suggested single barrel as its another 'premium' bourbon and although you can't beat the taste of jack there are other nice bourbons out there at good prices. American honey (turkey) is another good one and is fairly cheap. Also have a nice 14 year aged turkey with a brass cover and timber box. You can find most of this good stuff behind the display cabinets at dan murpheys etc

Buy a couple bottles of old No7, a few nice cigars, a deck of cards and get a couple of mates around. Give him a night of laughs and good company. Good memories are worth more in every way

I quite like the WT Rare Breed, am yet to try the 101. One of the few bourbons I can enjoy over ice.

I know I might sound a bit posh but Chivas Regal is a nice drop.

BTW Jack isnt actually Bourbon, it's whiskey. Only a slight difference I know but it makes a big difference to a connoisseur. They do taste different.

If he is just mixing it with Coke and getting hammered then it doesnt matter
