Need Help!

hi everyone,

Well after a while with many attempts of re-applying the safety strips i have decided to take them off, but there is a bit of a problem. The bloke before has put of a kind of glue to make it stick and now, it remains on the paintwork, and turps wont get it off. Ive tried using a scraper blade along with turps, but it doesnt seem to do much. Any suggestions or advice would be great. its mainly the front passeneger door, and the two drivers side doors that are the problem.

Have you tried heating it up with a hair dryer or heat gun, depending on the glue should come off ok, maybe try kero diluted with some warm water..

Maybe try some eucalyptus oil, but not sure if it will affect the paint

Addsz08: so the heat will soften it and make it easier to peel off?

Superpursuit83: okay so give eucalyptus a shot on an old panel and see if it affects the paint work?

yeah mate sure will, just depends on the glue, hopefully it,s not that quick grip yellow stuff, could be a bit of a mission if it is, just heat it up so it fairly warm and the glue is as soft as possible and get the kero sloution splash a bit on and get razor blade and gently scrape it off.. try to keep the heat into it.. worked for me

thanks alot oaye, but by the sounds of that i think he has put quick grip on it, it is yellow and very stiff

and make sure you keep plenty of the kero and water on too, just acts as a lubricant and disolve the glue..

3M make a contact remover that works great,other than that prepsol might help

okay, the whole,left side is finished i took addz08's advice and heated it up with the hair dryer and it came off very easily. Thanks alot mate. All of the right side is done besides the drivers door and front right quarter panel. its a bit of a bastard this one, but time will tell. thanks alot to everyone for their advice.
