Default The car you're shopping for...

I spend most of my time looking a dual-cabs, hot hatches & V8 utes.

So I'm no closer to a decision.

A work colleague, being a northern QLD boy, is obsessed with those Toyota turbo diesel V8 utes, $80k and poorly equipped. He spends hours looking for deals and options to purchase (finance missus permitting).

What car do you continually scope out on carsales (or similar) to buy?

Anything "oddball" .. Something which others love or hate, but can't ignore.

Currently going back to my roots and looking at Studebaker Hawk (my first car was a Studebaker Lark).

2007 / 08 Fairmont Ghia would do me - Seduce with the Black Leather. Or a G6E Turbo with a similar colour combo.

I've also been thinking panel van lately (of all things) I sometimes spend two or three days at race meetings and I know I could buy a tent but a van would be perfect - deck the back out and always have somewhere fairly comfortable to sleep.

Well I've been trying to decide for the last 6 months what ute to upgrade to it going to be either a ba/bf xr8 or a pursuit 250.
I can never seem to decide which I want more lol every time I decide what I want there isn't one around. One day I might decide.

This caught my eye today and fits some of your criteria - probably wrong state though!

1988 VL SS Group A Commodore (ie the Walkinshaw one). Everyone else hated it when it came out back in 1988. I loved it from the start. Used to ride my BMX bike over to the Holden dealer and stare at one in the showroom.

Won Bathurst in 1990 with Alan Grice.

By the early 1990s they were selling secondhand for around $22,000. In recent years a good one has been worth around $75,000.

1992 Camaro Z28. Another one that no-one ever liked. I just love that shape (1982-1992). Some day I'll go to the US, pick out the one that I want, bring it back and keep it forever.

Always keeping an eye out for a few 70s-90s coupes for a project car. Love the XR power plant but it's just too big and heavy and don't really need a sedan anymore.

Supra, Porsche 944, 240-260 etc

Was originally XA-XC but unrestored ones don't seem to exist anymore.

XD, for a project. Stumbled upon a ute "half resto'd" with "all the hard work done" you know, that old story. But it had a clevo, c4 and 9 inch so it could have been a good start but I missed out. Oh well I'd prefer a pano or sedan anyway.

Have been looking for a weekend backroad chuck around toy ... and traffic commuter toy.

So have been looking at either cheap old MX5 to get and mod (do at least coilovers/supercharged) .... or what has looked good lately has been Fiesta XR4's as well. Something unmolested at least.

Other than that I have been drooling over FGX G6ET's in white.

Occasionally look for 90-spec Sierra/Sapphire/Escort Cossies as well.

I search a few cars pretty often:

LV Focus RS, they're still around $40-$50,000, would love one in Frozen White.
Mint condition E series Falcons, a couple of mint ones owned by old dudes in the local area.
GMT400 GMC Sierra (Keen on another Ambo)
Cadillac Seville STS (Early 2000s)

If business runs well I'll buy all 4 eventually

I'm keen on the LV RS vs the new one, its still FWD rather than AWD and I reckon the LV shape is tougher than the new LW shape.
