Anyone know what those front seats are from that vella's got in there? Perhaps they're custom.

For all the lazy ones :Reverend:
With all the hype around the new BA Falcon, its of little surprise that Adrian Vella's mint EL Falcon 10 second street car turns heads where ever it goes. It's refreshing to see a different approach taken and that's the exact reason Adrian chose to do the EL. Adrian's always been Falcon mad owning a supercharged and intercooled EB Fairmont before this current one. Trying the more popular turbocharging approach this time round however, Adrian has reaped the rewards recently running a 10.36 at 130mph. This was in full street trim, full leather interior, the works. Pop the bonnet and you'll noticed the big 4ltr painted rocker cover gives a nice touch to the coats of Harlequin paint outside. The engine has been pulled down and fitted a set of forged pistons mated with standard shot peened and polished conrods. Head work at this stage is still relatively sedate with a mild camshaft, valve springs and some tidying up of the inlet ports. Ford 6 cylinders are renowned for producing a good amount of torque and this setup take that to the next level with the addition of a turbocharger. The 4ltr delivers a huge amount of torque right across the rev range. The go fast modifications were performed by P.E.T Modifications in Thomastown who initially ran the Falcon with a Garrett T04E turbo (as pictured). Utilizing a 66mm Turbonetics front wheel, .70 compressor cover and a 1.32 exhaust housing, this combination made 370kw at the wheels on 25psi boost. The Falcon was taken to Heathcote Park where Adrian ran a 10.84 at 124mph. The turbo has since been upgraded to a monster secret spec Garrett TA45 . This sits on a custom stainless steel exhaust manifold with a Garrett 42mm external waste gate controlling boost. A large custom air to air intercooler with 3 inch piping was also fitted up. The fuel system has received a full upgrade in order to keep the engine firing. The surge tank in the boot feeds two Bosch 975 Motorsport fuel pumps which in turn supplies C16 race fuel to 6 Indy Blue injectors. An Autronic SMC controls all fuel mapping and ignition timing. With the new turbo fitted, P.E.T strapped the Falcon back onto the rollers where it pumped out 395kw on only 23psi. Another trip to Heathcote and Adrian laid down a 10.36 at 130mph pass. Ensuring power makes its way to the back wheels a rebuilt and modified C4 three speed transmission was fitted. Now running a full manual valve body, Adrian must change gears manually. A trans brake was also fitted which helps Adrian leave the line with a ton of revs and more importantly a fully spooled turbo. The factory Borg Warner diffs are by no means a weak unit but Adrian has opted for a full 9 inch LSD center. Helping the car launch is a set of 90/10 struts up front. The struts help keep the weight over the back tyres to reduce wheel spin. Slowing down the heavy beast after it crosses the line are 330m discs with twin spot calipers. Unlike many other quick Melbourne street cars, Adrian's Falcon isn't just all go. The car has been re-sprayed in Harlequin paint and a set of Simmon's FR18 fitted on Falken 265/35 rears and 235/40 tyres up front (not pictured). On the drag strip 26x10 inch MT Drag slicks and Draglite front runners are sensibly used. Inside and you'll find a full leather interior complete with woodgrain dash inserts. The EL has full electrics to boot. Extra boost and oil pressure guages have been neatly installed into the center console and Adrian select gears with the B&M shifter. The Falcon has already attracted its fair share of attention at the drags. Although running a larger engine, the EL is very impressive when compared to the highly popular VL turbo considering the extra weight of the big Ford. Adrian's next goal is to crack into the 9 second zone. With a bit more boost, this is certainly achievable. Will this car help persuade people to purchase a new Barra XR6 turbo? We think so! |

perhaps he has no aircon or something damo?
not to mention its a lot simpler then using the XH setup when it comes to spares. how ever, something i never noticed until now..... it seems the PCV valve was relocated to the SIDE of the rocker cover? assuming thats the PCV valve, certainly looks better.

nice, but dont rate the XR front end at all, should of stayed with the ghia one IMO.
Still, hard to argue about a car with those specs.

pyro's interior is near stock EL XR.
Adrian Vella's Turbo EL Ghia has EL GT interior.... i know which i'd want. pyro's is a better daily, but its obvious which one is quicker. not to mention the full boost story on this car is quite old, i wouldn't be suprised if its got more power or is quicker now.
