Default Diff Drama

Hey guys i was wondering if anyone can help me out,
ive got a series 3 forte non IRS and have some suspect noises from the rear of the car,my local mec replaced a rear right bearing that didnt fix the problem,he said its definatly internal diff and will need a full set of diff bearings apx $1000 fitted, i figured for that much i could get a LSD... how much would i be looking at to have a LSD fitted and where the hell do i source one?? im based newcastle NSW any info or recommended workshops ect would be greatly apreciated!

wrecking yard from a HP XR6. it'll change your gear ratio thought to 3.45 which will effect your speedo. try and find one that has low Km.

$1000 is a bit rich. I had mine done for around the $500 mark.

But if ya want a LSD an XR6 HP is ya best bet like Day-mow said.

An XR6 with without the VCT engine and i believe they are all live axle.

The have a slightly bigger cam, Bigger valves, 3.5 bar fuel pressure reg and slightly larger ports too i think.

just look under the bonnet and you will see if it has the VCT acctuator, all AU XRs had both options available, if you go this way you will need to fit a grey speedo gear ( the different colours have different ratios)
