Better Places was based on entire battery pack replacement in the same time it takes to fill with petrol/LPG....you wouldn't own the battery pack, just keep swapping it at regular charging stations just like any petrol station where they will be recharged using renewable energy predominantly.
The v smart Israelis are current leaders but expect the idea to be taken up by California and Europe (Renault) in time it's probably inevitable. The old dismissive bogey of range can be addressed in time. 40 months is a long time.....
