Default Will boring a 1600 and putting in 1300 pistons which fit the bore be anygood?

iv seen a block for $100 which im considering getting, but ofc i need pistons and I know by using 1300 pistons in a 1600 youl get more compression. would using 1300 pistons which fit the bore be better than 1600 pstons? also i would probly use cast iron pistons because its way cheaper

thanks

cheaper generally goes bang faster = sooner rebuild
1300 = higher compression (so you want to use these but to suit 1600 bored out !) why not just get 1600 oversize (bore type) set up (standard off shelf) for higher compression
or just skim the block deck or head to increase compression , and they can do the block when they do the bores

ok......

lets get back to what you might have here....

both 1600 & 1300 can possible have the same pistons & cylinder heads

there are mainly 2 types of heads for the xflow - flat & concaved to put it in laymens terms - the use different pistons to suit....

if you bore a 1600 you will need to get new pistons....a 1300 is not a larger bore standard

the only difference with a 1600 to a 1300 is the 1600 is the block is 1 inch in the old terms taller than the 1300. Easy to check as the water pump is virtually level with the top of the block of a 1300

Do you know what cylinder head you have on your xflow? you will need to make sure you match the right pistons to the head you have

with the head off you will be able to see the combustion chamber in the pistons & compare the width of the outer ring or size of the chamber with each pistons
there were high comp 1300 & 1600's....all later model 1600's with the dual throat weber carb were high comp motors
