Default Nikola's Hydrogen Truck

Turns out they're full of **** and have been bull****ting everyone, their truck doesn't work, has never worked and the company is an absolute dumpster fire - of course GM is in bed with them

These fake news vapourware enviro-flogs are coming out of the woodwork and auto manufacturers keep getting into bed with these random 'startups'.

Let's start a car company called 'Henry'

There's a lot of startups with nothing but cash burn but the market loves them, as currency is falling from the sky via the central bank's QE policies

Gotta park it somewhere

Hey there's a truck, it might even move!

Thats the thing with Holden though - all **** and wind.

Plenty of prototypes but no product released to the public, they were always working on stuff and had prototypes for this that and everything under the sun, that just never saw the light of day.

Mmmmmmmm…

You should see what Ford had as prototypes over the years that never made it to production?

Exactly - that no one ever saw or knows about, we know all the Holden ones though don't we?

There's a message in that.

Holden loved rolling out prototypes with "intentions" of building them, and then they would never be seen again.

It was getting silly in the 2000's when they rolled out prototype after prototype, talked about putting it into production, and didn't build any of them

Not true !!

Every motor company trots out concepts, have done for decades. Some are just radical "ideas", not actually meant for production, while some are nearly production ready.

The V2 Monaro was one concept that went ahead, as did the SX3 which became the Captiva. The old Torana GTR-X was intended for production until the bean counters killed it off.

The 2 that were meant to go ahead (the TT36 Torana & the VE Coupe 60) were killed off because of the GFC & the planned closing down of Holden.

Others like the Ejigy & the old Hurricane were just radical concepts, but they paid for themselves many times over in the publicity they received

There were plenty of others. Didn't they do an electric commodore around VT days as well? Or was it hybrid?

Yes, just as the Ribeye I had for lunch, became a stinking great turd.
But not really the same thing.

Of all the stupid decisions made by Holden over the years, rebadging Daewoos was probably the worst.
(Trying to convince people to buy re-badged Toyotas, was plain stupid, but at least the cars were decent.)

Great minds think alike, I do my best work on AFF in my 'office'

I agree with the rebadged Daewoos - that was the beginning of the end, at least the other cars sourced from Opel were OK.

TS Astra was the second hand buy of the century during the late 00s, aside from timing belts and AC compressor clutches they put up with a tonne of abuse.

The best part of a TS Astra is the electric power steer pump for re fitting to other cars and then the $500 you get for the rest as scrap

Mainstream Hydrogen powered vehicles are a furphy, until there is a HUGE technological advance, there is nothing that’ll happen to make that happen in the medium term.

It takes more power to extract Hydrogen, and make it useful in “powering” a powertrain, than that Hydrogen can actually produce.

This is GM investing in nonsense without proper due diligence of Nicola and it’s personnel
and that’s before they ever address the big issues with hydrogen fuel…….
