Hi all, just wondering if someone could help me, I have just replaced the auto gearbox in my 1988 AT 2.2 litre Ford Telstar, it works really good except when in drive or reverse the engine slowly decreases in revs then cuts out, in park and nuetral it is fine, help would be very much appreciated. Thank you.

maybe an electronic fault in the gearbox if the torque converter was replaced as well
if injected something from the gearbox TCU to EFI computer controller to throttle body to dissy if carby something in the gearbox TCU to carby to dissy normally it is the throttle position sensor causing the problem dont know what voltage it is meant to have ...... might be something like .5 volts when you put the pedal down the message is not being given to the engine to give more revs for the auto box to respond check the timing of the engine and any wire connections you can see from the box a wire or pin may bave broken or is not connected or corroded a faulty gearbox computer controller or sensor ther is a temp sender for the auto as well after that call the fitter of the auto

I got an engine and gearbox that runs well if you can't be bothered solving this issue - see:
