Default Too much air

Id like to know if a engine has access to, to much air will it loose torque?

eg cut a hole over TB stick a pod on it sticking out of bonnet.

will this give better throttle responce but loose torque?

No.. If the runner length is the same , you will not lose torque, if anything you'll gain abit of hp because you have actually made a cold air intake

what if you only had about 10cm of piping from throttle body to pod filter?

Problem is it would be a cop magnet, not to mention pretty rice unless done very well. Drew you will not need to do it, not with whats on the horizon.

As long as you maintain air velocity it should not matter, it is the runner length and flow that affects torque the most.

The individual pipes from the plennum chamber to the ports in the head, general rule is long runners give good low down torque, short give top end (hope I got that right). That is why the runner length on the I6 changes, gives both.

The main question is why would you need it, the stock airbox setup provides more than enough air for any N/A 4L and most V8's. As said, a pod is a cop magnet and needs to be shielded fom engien temps otherwise it will cost you money. You want to maintain a reasonably stright entry into the throttle body to minimise turbulence, other than that it really shouldn't make a huge differnce what is before the throttle body.

The rpm switches the butterflies inside the manifold, done by vacuum
