Default 1.3lt '74 MK1 blowing smoke from oil cap

g'day

ive got a '74 1.3lt MK1 escort, which is used for mudbash, (( www.mudbash.com )Major annual, Rover event) which i am in the process of getting going.. did some testing last week down at a farm. and found out that i may have had a engine fire, as there was a lot of smoke coming from the engine bay.. but after a good look around, it looks like the engine is blowing smoke out of the oil cap/breather..

what would cause this??
and how could i be fixed??

any idea would be great..

cheer's
Mike

If its blowing enough smoke out of there for you to think its on fire, then it sounds like broken rings to me. Do a compression test on it.
