Who would buy a car privately if it is 7-8k above the insured market value.
i am finding this more and more with Ford ba utes . Is there a problem with the ba xr6 / xr8 utes at dealers they seem to be cheaper than private sales can any one explain ? |

What car can u buy for its insured value ???
Most cars go for more I dont understand why private sales are dearer than dealers Some people cant trade their utes in as the payout is more than the trade in price And many cant stretch the funds to payout or finance the difference So i would assume, they then try and get max $$$$ goin private sale |

23k sounds far too much for a BA ute. Over priced cars simply won't sell until priced fairly. Make sure you negotiate!

23k for an 04 XR6 is just an owner kidding themselves.
Its no different to the one's who think a 5.0 VT SS is worth $12000, or a VX SS being worth $15000, or the VZ SS ute i saw the other day for $27000. |

Those are the 19" twisty rims, not the staight 18's. Even better! Or are they 18 size/twisty copies?

Far out that does seem a bit for an XR6. But being a ute it will hold its value a bit better then a sedan.
But for mid 20s you can get into a Clubby of the same year (02-04) or a Malloo for that matter. It is a shame though that such good cars depreciate so fast.

There was also 1 Million new cars sold just a couple of years ago.
Theres going to be a massive influx hit the market very soon, making everything worthless. |

anyone who thinks some cars are overpriced you should look at f250's on carsales, some of the prices are just plain ridiculous, there are people asking 20g more for trucks with twice the km's of others(which haven't sold in over twelve months themselvs). And i know you can't buy them anymore but priced at MORE than they were new for a 9 year old truck with 250 000km, seriously!!!!!!!!!!

Just isnt going to happen. Some people just cant be told that they are dreaming. Then there are those that think their $10000 worth of mods adds an extra $10000 to the value of the car......... |

A few have mentioned the issue with the "F" trucks
The problem with them is really whats on the market that can/could do what they do Very hard to compare something like an effie to something like a common type ute Hate to say it ,but ones a REAL work horse and ones a show pony I know the used market has been flooded as such for years , Some new car dealers were offering a cheaper 2nd hand car FREE with a new purchase (Thats the excess out there ATM) |

When you buy a vehicle from a dealer, the dealer must warrant it.
I think the minimum they must warrant it for is 3 months. But in saying that... it doesn't justify the 7-8k more you pay over private sales.

Its rare I suppose, thats why. But demand shouldn't be too high right? I got a photo of me standing next to a new F450 super duty in a dealership with the princely price tag of $149,999... Its like $55,000 USD for the top o the range model in the USA. |

i am looking for 5.4 petrol , i am a chippy and my xr8 is too low at times and my cars MUST have v8's in them. the thing that scares me is the $8000+ gear boxes and the interior is basic, which is fine for the 30g car that they are in the us but when they are worth 70-100g here in australia they are not good value for money. i priced one up in 2002 for 54000 and some still ask that for them now

The reason why the cars are overpriced is simply because emotion overrules logic and "I MUST HAVE ONE" is the only thought.
Want to start a fight? Ask why T3 owner why he wants more than the $9-12k wholesale value. Ask why a 40 year old falcon with stripes that got blown away on Top Gear by a bog standard bottom of the range FG XT is priced higher than most people's houses. Utes are popular with the "young man about town" crowd and therefore the owners have an over inflated idea of their value. The fact you are complaining about it simply shows that you want one too but don't want to pay what others think they are worth. On the other hand if you were SELLING a ute would you accept a lesser price? Supply and demand......if no one wants them they will be cheap as chips...AU Forte anyone??? |

Would be handy for when we go on family trips, I want mummy dearest to be comfortable there in the back, she has a bit of a hard time getting into my three door Fiesta as it is. Plus I have tools now for work, which don't fit in my Fiesta :'( The single cab diesel F250 is three seater, but I think it would be a bit squishy, though I've never sat in one. Comparing it to my experience with in the back of a CRV/RX350 with 5 people in it, a lot of unnessesary *** touching happens when trying to get on your seatbelts. |

Sounds like it might be worth around the $15k mark.

I wouldn't put a sale of a Ute in the same category as selling a sedan, last month I sold 2 Utes and a sedan in 10 days, the demand for good Utes is good.
I was told there is no such thing as a cheap good Ute... BA XR8 Supercharged never got to advertise it, sold in 24 hours by word of mouth. BA XR6 put on car sales 9am Monday sold Tuesday 10 am with 3 calls in 24 hours.

Luck plays a big part as in who the person is looking for the a vehicle at the time you are selling, the s/c Ute went to a guy in his late 50's he had money and the ba xr6 Ute went to a caravan manufacturer they also were not short of a dollar. In the last 2 years the young guys are not getting the finance as easy as they once were, and the banks personal loans are over the top in interest rates. A Ute like yours will appeal to many but the dealers have on site finance its a big edge and they push to get the finance to move cars. Your cars looks good well presented and appears to be priced OK too, but it is a manual $2k cheaper buy new price. I would remove anything your not selling the car with, take the wheels off and put pictures with the wheels the car will be sold with, if you have a perspective buyer he will try and buy it without paying any more for the wheels. If you know a perspective buyer looking for money try CUA they do very good rates from 8.69% for new cars and cars under 2 years old slightly higher.. Also I found Automatics are easier to sell, with the reputation of the ZF now being 2nd to no other transmission its an advantage..

Remove the "Ford have stopped making XR8's" - who cares. Next is the wheels - if your not selling the wheels, why are they on the car and in the pictures. Makes it a hassle to deal with you. What wheels are included? Remove the wheels, replace them with whatever you are selling the ute with, redo the pictures and leave it at that. The 'lowered at the rear' doesnt send a good impression either. Why isnt the front lowered as well? Just my observations. |
