ring jim mock motorsport and pay $300 for a bypass module, or ford may still be selling them at around the same price, else simple answer NO

I have no idea what's been done, but the smartlock in my EL has been disabled (or possibly bypassed) to allow for remote start. I had a brief look under the dash, but can't find anything obvious other than a heap of scary looking stray wires!

I want to remove the whole lot though and just put a normal alarm in and fix smartlock.

I am fairly sure that it is illegal to have a remote engine start fitted to a road registered vehicle..

And i am pretty sure that is Australia wide..

On the other hand maybe you wish to fit a turbo timer or something like that.. if so u dont neccessarily have to bypass smartlock..

Cheers,
Nik

what would be the point inthe turbo timer if the car isn't turbo?
and are you sure its illegal? i thought it was only illegal for manual cars (as you might leave it in gear)

Nik u've replyed to most of my posts within the llast 10min (must be bumming onthe comptuer like i am :P)

Lol.. yer i am bored as.. LOL..

I am 99% sure it is illegal in any vehicle.. Keep in mind most manual vehicles have nuetral switches so fitting a remote start would be same level of danger as an automatic..

As for the turbo timer i was just guessing at wat MONTYMUZZA might need to bypass smartlock for..

Cheers,
Nik

roosta is kind of right.
ive had cops check out the fact that it remote starts and they havent told me off.
i guess as long as you have wired up all the safety measures theres no reason for it to be unsafe.

b.t.w it makes no diff betweeen man n auto
both have safety switches to check if in gear...and if park brake is on.

disable the turbo timer part of the alarm if u dont have turbo.
its a cool down timer...no turbo no need.

smart lock reads for keys doesnt it? so u will need a bypass unit.

Smartlock does not read the key, it simply has an extra part of the igntion barrel that tells the smartlock unit to send a signal to the ECU to enable it.

Smart Sheild (AU onwards) does read they key then basically does the rest the same.

Smartlock module via a key fob will allow you to unlock/lock the doors, open the boot and also controls fading the interior light.
