Well bit the bullet gone and ordered a full set also @ $121 each, bendix front pads $75 and ford rears @ $175ish that I was originally quoted $253 for them. rotors through motortraders and pads through ford.

i had slotted discs on my old focus, very much recommended. Plus they were cheaper than the OEM ford buckets of crap.

Driveline and brakes are the same CL to Ghia for the LS. Only Zetec has slightly different susp. XR5 is completly different.

I was quoted by Macarthur Ford Parts for 180-something if I remember correctly.

Ha Ha found the front pads ford supplied are for the LR focus so I gues the quote for the rotors from them is up to too.
Lucky front pads are over 50%
those original rotors had been worn down a great deal.
The rear pads, the RH inter pad totally gone, outer 30%, LH side at about 30%
I have not usually seen rear pads wear out faster than the fronts? And rotors wear out just as fast as pads??

But the brakes feel good

How many clicks does your handbrake go, perhaps its too tight. I found the rear inside pads gets worn faster than the outside as well, but the left side of my car wore out faster than the right side.

The stock rotors only have about 2-3 or so mm worth of wearing before they need replacing.

If the rears are anything like that on the lasers, then there is an adjusting screw to wind the calipers in and out so you can fit the new pads.
Also best when fitting new pads and discs to bleed the system. Remember to move the pistons in and out to flush the bad from the caliper galleries.
I have an ST170, plus a GTR Familia rally car.

Will have to look at the ST to see if it is the same.
But Lucas pads are woeful on the standard discs.

Are you sure.
Sometimes there is a grommet covering the opening. You would need a fine flat head screwdriver to wind it in and out.

I am located around the Woodville area / Adelaide.

Certain. The only sort of things coming out of the caliper are the
Piston
Brake line
Bleed nipple
Handbrake cable lever thingy.

I just read on the FFOC uk website and someone mentioned that the piston itself needs to be screwed (ie rotated) to go back in. Does this sound right?

Black my hand brake goes up quiet a way.
And the piston does screw in, with pressure at the same time.
I had no probs with them unlike you black but you have ABS?

Simonr I got my rotors (for an LS) through MotorTraders the RRP was about $220+
So most mechanics will go on the RRP.
The price I go mine for ($110+)are about trade price as I used to deal with them in the past

I called bursons, and got the front 2 for $190 shipped..

Great Service, even though the guy struggled to believe my car was actually manufactured in germany, (after he tried to
compare known problimatic rotors in ba falcons to my focus)

My Mechanic was adamant that the price i got was way below his cost..

I got them today, im gonna call my mechanic in the morn and see if he can quickly put them on before i havta goto work 2mrw morning

uhh, could be mistaken, but the foci imported to Aust with the exception of the ST 170 and the XR5 were all built in South Africa.

By any means he should be nailed upside down by his scrotum to a wall for making any comparison to a falcon. Heh.

Thinking of doing this in the future to mine, there's a bursons within walking distance of my place now so i might give em a go.

Not quite true mate. ALL LR's where built in Germany except the Sedan which was built in Spain. Only the New LS and LT's where built and are built in SA apart from the XR5T

There is an early thread here somewhere(I think Zetec posted it) that decodes your VIN. One of the letter/number positions tells you which factory/country your car was built in.

TJ, I'd lay money yours was built in Saarlouis, Germany

oh well, it does make me feel a little better knowing my car is actually european, not pseudo euro.
