Hi,
Went for a bit of a drive today to the coast, no hardcore driving, just a cruise down there. On the way back I noticed a weired screeching/rattling sound, but myself and missus dismissed it initally for the car next to us. Find out later that it is mine making the nose. below is the video of the sound. Now I checked water temp, oil pressure and oil temp and all seem fine. it doesn't seem to be idling rough either. The only glitch I have noticed is the turbo will NOT boost up. You can here wooshing in the background but it won't get on boost at all. From the sound clip is anyone able to give some advice of what the issue could be? I am going to take it to a mechanic on Wednesday (Tues public holiday in vic) but I just would like to have some idea prior to going. Is there anything I can check out (I am mechanically inept)? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9aSOCZiJ36U Cheers anyway.

Does it spool at all? Are all the boost hoses tight? Join up to the XR5OC link in my sig mate, plenty of knowledgable people on there.

it does spool but nothing more, feels like a cut off takes place when I hit certain rev. I haven't had a good look at the hoses, it all seemed ok at quick glance. Will check tomorrow.
Cheers for the linky, signing up now. Thanks also for the quick reply.

I've heard it before on other XR5's and I've been told it's some kind of diaphram.
Heres some info http://www.fordxr5turbo.com/forum/in...ic,5171.0.html

No worries mate
As Buckie said it could be the oil filter housing diapram.
