Sounds Great!

But try telling the general public that the 5.0l is better then the bigger 5.4l lol!

The general public will certainly see it as a positive imo.

An I think the general consensus amongst even us enthusiasts is starting to change.

People are now much more aware of where things are heading economically, environmentally etc, so if they have the option to be driving a high powered, better performing, better efficiency, yet smaller V8, the majority will see that as the better way to go.

Where does it say it is confirmed?

I see that it says Ford has confirmed it will stay in the V8 business. I also see that they say that the 5.0 coyote fits in the engine bay. Again I see that they say coyote is favourite.

No where do I see them say that coyote is confirmed.

I like this bit

Quote
Christophers admitted that the financial uncertainty surrounding the future of General Motors was a motivator for Ford continuing to offer a V8.

“If something happened to Holden, and HSV (Holden’s equivalent to FPV) folded, we would be mad not to continue in that (V8) business,” he said. “But I don’t know that is going to happen.” Unquote.

As soon as my lease runs out on my FG ute I will buy it and its FPV lease time for me. And that is August 1010.

It dosn't, you are right. Its the "firm favorite".

What options do they have though?

It's just a copy of that Drive article that has already been posted.

I think for reasons involving emissions, economics and marketing potential, they will run with the 5.0L. The 6.2L Hurricane/BOSS simply isnt viable.

I meant to put a ? mark at the end of the header... sorry about that. I had been reading this article as Road Warrior suggested:

Quote:
..............
The tables are set to turn, however, as a Ford executive has revealed to Drive that Ford’s current 4.6L and 5.4L V8 engines will be replaced by a new 5.0L V8 codenamed ‘Coyote’ that’s currently in development in North America. Ford's Australian product development chief, Russel Christophers, wasn’t willing to reveal any other details but said he had "seen the performance curves" and described them as “pretty good”.

The new Coyote engine is first expected to appear in the F-150 pickup in 2010 and then in the Mustang by 2011. The specs include a four-valve SOHC design, with power up around the 400hp (300kW) region and torque upwards of 400lb-ft (540Nm).

An exact date for release of the engine is not known but it has been suggested that it could appear in the Mustang within the next two years, and in certain Australian models as early as 2010. Meanwhile, the base Mustang is expected to stick with the current 4.0L V6, but a new mid-level model is expected to be launched later this year with Ford’s 355hp (265kW) and 350ft-lb (474Nm) of torque EcoBoost mill.

The best thing about the possible introduction of Coyote, is that Ford can put a V8 into the rest of the range, not just the FPV and XR8 models.

Sign me up for a G8E.

I wonder if FPV would do a custom-intake-runner-and-plenum to justify the bonnet bulge?

This is true, there is plenty of chat in that thread and all the info that has been released.

Now that the questions raised by the original post have been answered I think we are done here.
