Um, we haven't used it yet! Since getting it and assembling it yesterday, Huey has just laid on the rain. On the basis of the whippa snippa, the thing I enjoy the most is the lack of breathing two stroke, next is it just turns on with the button, no need for any other priming. With all my young apprentice's electric tools, the battery life has been pretty surprising too. Simple, fewer moving parts. And all charged by the sun.

I suppose an EV will be like this. One thing I like about the Mazda EV is that it has a bonnet/engine bay like a car, and there's heaps of free space in it, like around my old 302, but without the fumes haha.

ED Sprint was a general question for the thread, found an ad for one at 48.5K but no idea how long ago that was.

What model Mower?Ours is the Ryobi 36V comes with one battery as standard,I bought a second battery($399) just slots into the first one, gives you more power & more run time.I think the 36V is their biggest mower.

If you could get an XR6 VCT for 10k buy it as they are asking more than that 15-20k. My son just purchased a series 2 Fairmont V8, Leather interior with a factory Havoc body kit for $8k 190kms a 1 of 1 optined car on the Ford Customer sheet, good deal in the current market.

I just spent the long weekend cleaning up the AU Fairmont I just bought.
$3k, 191k, 4l, 4sp.

Looks pretty neat now the grime, fingerprints and doghair has been removed.
A 4-inch gouge running along the side at where the rear bumper meets panel is the only thing that lets it down.

A week ago I was pushing it a bit hard on the freeway, fully loaded and over due for a service. I took the top off a piston I think The truck got me the 12kms home on 3 cylinders, just.

So went out last week and bought a brand new vehicle, just could not justify the price of a second hand vehicle in the current climate. In the 32 years between the production of my 1989 Ford trader and the 2021 plate Isuzu Dmax that replaced it, many improvements have been made in vehicle manufacture!

So that left a rusty truck with a blown engine and 375000kms on the clock blocking my driveway. I sent a message to 9 local wreakers to see if there was any interest. Everyone got back to me, some wanted to know what I wanted for it, others offered to beat any price I was offered.

I ran a little auction between them, when the bidding got silly +$1.00 I closed the bidding and told them at 9.00am the next day everyone gets one last bid and the best offer takes it. My truck, my rules.

I got $3500 cash the next day. The guy that bought it was happy despite the amount of rust in the cab, you can see the road through the drivers floor! He told me he was going to paint the cab, put another engine in it and export my old truck to Pakistan!
Work. Somehow missed this post, I bought a 1990 year model one just prior to Covid for $3000 (knowing they were starting to climb in price) for use as a parts truck. Being a coastal truck (Bega) I was expecting the cab to be shot but only bought it for the drivetrain.

Knowing the exporter were also after them I stuck a wanted ad in Gumtree, the guy had just bought a new N series Isuzu and offered to deliver it over the snowy's to my place. Got it here and found a small rust hole at the back of the cab, the accelerator cable and pedal missing. Stuck some diesel in it, fitted a new pedal and cable in it and a couple of NZ70 batteries. Three goes at the starter and off she popped.

To good to part out. But might go a different direction on this one.

If i had the space i would also be ferreting away a few more AU's, as i think they will be heading north in value as more time passes. Just an iconic car and one of the best Falcons produced regardless of the initial look and style.

I have a whole fantasy garage filled with various AU derivations, right down to the exact colour I want each version to be.

Anyone had insurance policy renewals recently that have factored in the jump in market value pricing of their vehicle, the much higher costs in repairs and thus the greater chance of Write-off thus an increase in number of write-off payouts which have also increased in $$.... and in the case of my policies, "new for old" replacement if the vehicle is under 3 years old.

I just upped the agreed value on the Mustang by $10,000. It's now "valued" at $10,000 more than what I paid for it in 2017.

Everyone knows that the AU is the best Falcon ever made. Definitely the ugliest, definitely the best.

I’ve recently sold two and can confirm they are fetching good $. Nothing like Holdens and HSVs are though. The market is still strong for the right combo and condition cars.

I was actually chasing an AU Fairlane Ghia 5L before I bought my Caprice.

Then a couple days later, a customer rocks into my workshop with an AU LTD with low km that needed an alternator he wanted to sell the car

The only reason I was set on the AU Fairlane was I drove one through a bumpy paddock once and it was so smooth and comfortable

The only things I've ever replaced on customers AU Falcons are window switches, alternators, power steering lines and the little LCD panel on the high series cars flogged out - thats it.

As much as I like paying out on them they actually are good cars, there's also a big difference between the EL SOHC 4L and the AU 4L SOHC in refinement and power delivery, even if the numbers on paper don't tell the story, its certainly there.

Yeah if I had the space and money during covid I would have been buying AUs.
But you think I'm a glutton for punishment with old BMWs. Imagine the pain getting window switches and LCD panels for 20 year old Fords! Talk about a rip off and no overseas competition. Unlike exxy euros no wreckers bother keeping 'common' falcon parts, much ended up in the bin or crushed.
ELs were pretty good though, advance the dizzy and stick in 98 petrol...E: AUs were the best on fuel economy for falcons though.

My daily ute just increased by 20k !
It was undervalued beforehand but still, that now sits at double what I paid 15 years ago.
Its also no longer my daily.
With the other cars, I can barely afford my insurance prems

It was a pain in the *** nearly 10 years ago getting some AU parts, especially that little LCD panel.

Also I'm pretty sure I still have a BA/BF drivers side seatbelt assembly on back order with my local Ford dealership, it's only been on back order for 7 years.

I suspect it's not comung

Well looks like our Russian made Bosch ignition parts might be getting harder to source.

What I find especially weird is the way these prices have translated to the "Project" market.

So people seem to think that because there's currently a shortage of cars, a project that is going to take me 3 years to get on the road, and is going to cost me more to fix due to the labour shortage, should also be worth more???

And some of the **** people are trying to sell

The little LCD can usually be repaired by forcing the panel and circuit board back together!
