Hi guys,
My daily driver is a ED XR6. On a recent trip to Forester I had a go in my dad's BA XT. The first thing I noticed was that the gas pedal felt like it was made of wood. Seriously the feel was so much firmer it felt like the brakes on my ED XR6. Now I had driven the BA before but not for a couple of months and I had never reckoned the gas pedal to be particularly firm before but the difference really shocked me this time (for the first couple of minutes I had trouble keeping the car up to the speed limit). I was just wondering if anybody else had noticed such a difference in pedal feel between an eseries car and a BA? Maybe its just the XR6? How would I about adjusting pedal feel for either car (assuming there is a problem). |

i got more power by replacing mine. it wasn't opening the throttle all the way.

yeah same thing in my old mans fairlane, they brake just above the motor usually and dont open the throttle all the way

Same with mine. My original throttle cable was streched like mad. I'd put the foot down and nothing would happen. The improvents after replacing it were immediately noticable. I just touched the throttle and accidentally nearly hit the redline!

Hey..
I have noticed alot of the newer cars i drive have firm accelerator pedals.. Personally i prefer my ED's spongy cable.. LOL.. i am going to put some spacers in the line shortly thought to lift the pedal a bit higher off the floor.. Cheers, Nik

Dont forget that the BA doesn't have an accelerator cable its just a spring in a box that you are feeling. As with the E series the only spring that the have fitted is actually part of the cable on the throttle body end and yeah they are weak but I kind of like it that way. Like every one else has said just make sure you are getting full throttle and that'll do.

I have found the BA a bit too stiff for my liking!. I still prefer the old cable system in the e-series, they have more feel!
But with any sort of car, you will get use to it!!
