Default VW to launch Cupra brand in oz 2022

VW will be launching the new Cupra brand in australia next year. Originally the Cupra was a performance model within the Seat range, like a Golf R, before it was spun off as it's own brand.

The Formentor looks pretty cool for an SUV.

By all reports Seat/Cupra are actually a quality product. Just like Skoda cheaper than the parent but better built.

Hey, great idea.

Maybe GM can try again with Opel.

Do we really need another car brand in this country?

More competition’s a winning plan, just ask Masters Hardware.

Of course it will. It's a low volume niche product.

Here's a stab at a meaning.
Australia, due to geographical constraints, does not have the infrastructure to quickly support Electric cars (VW recently whinged about this).
Perhaps VW want to be able to say something like "VW are all electric" at some point in the future.
So they need a brand focused on Internal combustion to keep market share in Australia.
Cupra

I really don't see much point in this. VW already have the R line so what does it actually offer other than another brand with styling differences.

I think MG are ripping off Mazda quite a bit which is entirely consistent with the Chinese

Though plenty buying them and I'm starting to notice it around here.
