Default 4.0 Rocker Racks?..Anyone else having Problems?

Hey guys...just wondering if anyone else has had any drama's with rocker racks and lifters calapsing in there EF-EL 4.0 Engines?. I had a rack go at Heathcote last year (which alot of people on here may remember?...bloody skylines), and i replaced it with another rack and its was fine.....until today..lol. It only took a couple of rev spikes when i got some wheels spin at the end of 2nd and 3rd gear and it let go once again. Just courious to see if anyone else has had any drama's?....maybe this cam is to aggressive?.

Change to solid lifters...?? I think in a high lift situation especially turbo solid lifters help. Im not sure how they do it or any details only heard about them. So is there any news on your car i know the snort site says you are waiting on driveline upgrades but its been that since i can remember.

There haven't been any driveline changes yet due to lack of funds...lol. I do have a 9" diff conversion sitting here ready to bolt in, just gotta sort out a trans. I had to upgrade the fuel pump last month and now the fuel side of things is spot on. The Engine is working a treat besides it now having a small issue with the rockers.

fast opening ramps may be placing excessive pressure on the hydro lifters.

What sort of duration/lift are you running, you may be at the limit of the hydros and require running solid lifters

All fixed once again!...It was the lifters...not the rocker rack. Replaced the rack and fitted new lifters = NO NOISE!.

How do you compensate for the lack of give when you fit solid lifters?? has anyone done so before and did they have any problems? im thinkin of doing this on my turbo motor im building but have limited knowledge on the exact reason behind doing it.

Could also be that your valve springs need re-shimming or you need another set of valve springs.

Dave,

Post up some pics of the broken rack, trying to imagine what has happened to make it break. Seems like an odd thing to break.

The rack ended up being fine...it was just a lash adjuster (lifter) colapsed. fitted a new set and all ok now.
