Default Ford Maverick *Not the 4wd*

I'm currently looking at vehicles to import and came across these and i've never seen one before.

Does anyone know much about them ?? Are they based on the Capri ??

Looks like a potential weapon with the right engine combo and can be had for next to nothing, mint cond for less than $5k.

Same, haha.

I think they look cool, would be interesting to import one and trick it up.

Funny how the Maverick and the Pinto are near similar, yet the slightly different rear roof and boot contour gives the Maverick an attractive fastback look yet the Pinto looks very boring hatchback.

The Maverick reminds me of the Mustang Celica.

Mercury sold a car called the Comet, which in the same years as the Maverick was built from the same car.

Ok, I don't want to scare anyone too bad but, if you look at the concept vehicle for the first Aussie built Falcon sedan you will find that it is the Maverick concept vehicle. Yeah, we got a watered down version and you guys got the cool looking concept as your production car.

Mavericks were basically basic transportation back in the day. Now they have quite a following from a small segment of the country. I think they make cool hotrods.

Check out the Maverick Comet Club International. Their member's cars page has some really nice ones!!

Pintos may sure be ugly, but it is very easy to make them fast. The 2.3 turbo can make a shedload of power.

I don't mind the Maverick. It would have been ineresting to see the 1974 Mustang if it had been based on that Platform. I would have kept V8 Power throughout its run.

That's a sweet looking car! A big plus is that it doesn't have the Mustang badge prestige (even though Mustangs are pretty cheapish).

Please don't put up any more pictures of a Pinto...I've just eaten...

Maverick is nothing like Pinto, which has Mac struts and very light body with 2.0 OHC Pinto/Cortina engine.
The Maverick was basically XR-XY type Falcon floor pan with swoopy body and more crashworthy Mustang front end.

If you've been a bad person you'll be reincarnated as a front tyre in this Maverick that Emmo is driving around Interlagos.
