Default vehicle tranport from NSW to PERTH.

Hi guys, I just put a deposit on a 2003 fairmont ghia black 5.4 lt Auto 160 K on the clock. A bit on the higher side of $$ at $13500 but all looks good had some money thrown at it, 19" wheels, exhaust , sport suspension and i think it will be a great car for geting myself from A to B.

I need to transport it from Lismore NSW to Perth, have already got a few quotes best so far is $1350 door to depot.

Anyone got any other leads on transport companys.

also who knows how I go about swapping rego from NSW to WA, I thought I did but a little confussed now.

Any input appreciated.

Cheers
Dave

That’s about right for transport. I was quoted between $1,400 to $1,800.

And make sure your car is insured for the transport across. I know this sounds like a cliche or urban myth, but honestly I once brought a car across fro Qld and it arrived with a cracked windscreen.

Licensing in WA is **** easy. Just go into the licensing centre, fill out the form, and pay your money. No examination is necessary. You can probably even download the form first to save a bit of time.

Are you sure? If it's a new car that's correct, but for a secondhand car you would need to have it inspected coming from a different state I thought.

What I have gathered is that if I haven't owned the car for 12 months it has to go over the pits.

?????

I'd like to avoid it if possible but dont think there is anyway...

You also need to consider how it is transported, preferably in a covered trailer so you dont get stone chips etc.

I think ceva is the one to use that has the covered trailers, need to check whether they all are covered though.

That's correct, my ex NSW car had to go over the pits, make sure all the roadworthy items are roadworthy, otherwise you will be required to redo the pit check @ extra cost. They also drove my car to check for roadworthyness.
