Default like the look of a fire extingisher in your car but think its to expensive?

hey all

so as some of you know i work for ALDI and today being a Wednesday we were building all the specials that start tomorow and we have small fire extinguishers with a mounting bracket for cars and for only $12.99. and are refillable if you end up needing to use it. not sure what they are normally worth but i thought this was a good price? so if you want one head down to your local ALDI

i think they are plastic but they actually look fairly good, when it is on the car you would probs not even see the bracket

i wouldnt be putting an extinguisher in a car with a plastic bracket, would turn into a missile in an accident.

The Blue tag is to hold the pin in so it doesn't fall out.
This prevents accidentally letting it off.

The one in the photo needs charging.

Absolutely, in the boot would be fine but without a locking strap it should not be in the passenger compartment.

They will be charged, I'm confident of that,

Also looking on the page they have fire blankets for $4.99 worth getting one for the kitchen ;)

They will be sold as charged but try and pick one that has the needle well into the green zone, not on the edge of the red as this means it has either been used, needs charging or is losing charge

Id still check them to see if its charged.
We bought a few boxes of extinguishers (not these particular ones) for work and in a box of twelve, atleast three or four were empty.

They can be recharged, but its more expensive than a new one.
Amazing thats its cheaper to get them melted down, sent to China, recast/welded, and then filled, than it is to just get it re-filled here.

You know you can buy similar ones from bunnings for about $20
so it's not like the Aldi ones are a mega great super awesome bargain
Just a regular good deal.

I was going to say that. I'll just add that Bunnings say they will beat a price by 10%.

Who's going to be the first to try ?

bunnings will telly you that the aldi one is a different brand so no 10%

I have to say I'm tired of bunnings but thats a whole other thread that would probably see me banned from this site

Where are people mounting them in the cabin?

would anticipate you would want it in reach of the driver if you were trapped in a burning wreck?

I'd like to know how these ones mount, too.

If, however, you're trapped in a burning wreck, these units I suspect will do sod all by the time the flames reach the cabin.

I have both my extinguishers mounted in front of the passenger seats on my EL's. Approximately arms length from the drivers seat. After seeing an XY GT burn to the ground a couple of weeks ago, I cannot emphasise the importance of carrying a fire extinguisher, you may not only save your car /life, what about your friends & families as well ?

I am going to mount mine on the passengers side, mount attached to just under the glove box. Well that is where I am hoping to put it but will need to research whether that is the best spot for it.

Jack has one mounted in the XB Coupe like that...but if there is a better, recommended spot then that is where mine will go.
