Hopefully the new cat and o2 will do the trick!
I had the chance to use a friends exhaust place for a whole day trying on different mufflers and exhausts, i found the 2 and a 1/4 sounded awesome without drone, even though its an auto if you hold the gear at 4000 rpm it sounds nuts. Besides from the many exhaust size threads on these forums ive decided that 2 and a 1/4 is sufficient for the big six with intake and extractors...im not going to do cam shaft or head work.

I was the same. Had 2 1/2 inch redback (with whatever mufflers the exhaust guy thought) and couldn't stand it. Took it back the next day and he changed one of the mufflers to "glass filled". It was better but we headed off on a trip to the Snowy and when we got back I took it to an exhaust specialist who ended up cutting and chopping it with a 2 1/4" piece and a different muffler somewhere.
Now it's a bit louder than normal but the bloody highway drone is gone.
Oh yeah, as an added bonus I can actually hear my couple of grands worth of stereo without blood running out my ears, lol.

I put the redback system in today along with the magna-flow 2.5" hi-flow cat, and my car is surprisingly quiet! I know it will get a bit louder as it carbons up, but at this stage it appears no louder than stock with the only change being at idle. Not sure if yours is IRS or not so that might make a difference?

Either way fair enough on the 2.25 if its sufficient and gives a better note.
