Default Fabulous Corvette barn find

On Shonky's advice I'm reposting this up here.

This has to be one of the best Corvette barn finds ever ... http://www.vintagecorvettes.com/1967davis.html

What a waste, I'm sure he enjoyed looking at it, but surely he would have enjoyed driving it more?

And now its probably useless as anything other than a museum piece because all the rubber parts have probably dried out.

My god...put a '67 Stingray and an E-Type Jag in my garage, and I'd die a happy man...two of the most awesome and beautiful cars in the world!

This thing is awesome. People in the states do "Year One" restorations, where they do vehicles with all original parts, track down date-stamped-correct glass and engine parts to suit the day and month the engine was built, and use NOS parts as much as possible (and lose points if they don't). I even saw an article in an old car magazine of a totally original 1957 Chev barn-find which people were closely examining as to where the fine over spray of body paint went underneath the car when it was being painted...judges at big shows really are that ****, and restorers were keen to get things exactly right to the last tiny detail...because someone will notice, and that someone might have a judging clipboard in their hands.

It's vitally important that cars like this Corvette exist, as people in years to come need to see a totally original vehicle that hasn't been molested at all.
Especially when they can provide an example of how things were actually, truly done at the factory, to guide other restorers in how to do things better...look under that 'Vette...see the way the transmission sound deadening is fitted? See how it's all just satin/matt black underneath instead of pretty and shiny? Look under the hood and see where the wires actually run and what sort of hose clamps and things were fitted and how they were fitted...a restorer wanting to do a top job will want to know that sort of little detail, and this car shows exactly how it was done.

Take an old one and restore it, and yes, you've got an amazing restoration, but what it actually is, is a recreation of what the car was when new, and some things will necessarily have to be different from stock, and that matters.

i had the pleasure of seeing this car in the flesh and driving it around a year ago. im a die hard aussie muscle car person especially falcon gt s but this corvette would make the yellow car look second rate as its had so little use and the yellow car is a killer car

Just finished looking through the photos of that yellow HO...pretty much everything I said about that Corvette applies to that too. People need to see totally original stuff instead of high dollar resto's.

Awesome story. I can't understand how people can have the car sitting there that long and resist the erge to drive it. I could never so what this man did but he has done well to keep it in the condition for so many years.

I would love to buy it and drive it. Collect stamps if you arent going to drive it.

My old man doesn't have a photo of his wife and kids in his wallet. He has a pic of his first car, XW GS always has.

I'm guessing you mean 'won't sell it' rather than can't because of legal reasons

what model charger?
