I purchased the first issue of this magazine last year and quite liked it.Today I saw issue 2 in the newsagent and handed over another $9.95.Upon opening it I quickly realised I had seen most of it before.Eight pages on the XA Phase IV straight from Street Fords.Eleven pages on 2 XY GTs straight from The Aussie Muscle Enthusiast.Six pages on a Wild Plum XA GT also from the Muscle Enthusiast.Six pages on 3 EB GTs I had also seen before in one of the other mags.Another six pages on a red XW GT again straight from the Muscle Enthusiast. There are also six pages of pics of badges and stickers for God's sake.
To further add to the insult the cover, when listing the cars inside, says "1 of 4 XB",yet there is not even an XB in the mag.I guess this is why the magazine is sold in a sealed bag,so that we have no chance to check what is in it before we hand over our hard earned coin.I certainly wouldn't have wasted my money on it if I knew what was in it.I am sick of these bagged up rip offs and won't be spending another cent on them in future.

Yea stopped buy all the Cr@p mags. Especially the ones in plastic.
Street Ford always give you great value by giving you the previous 2 months mags. Why? No idea. Australian Musclecar Enthusiast also give you the previous months mag and an American muscle mag. Why not make it $5 to buy and give me one mag I want rather than charge me $10 and give me two free one I either already have or don't want. |

Exactly my thoughts Stefan.Street Machine is $8.95 and has more than double the number of pages.
I also have been buying the Muscle Car Enthusiast and now have double copies of all issues. The third mag they include goes straight into my recycling bin.At least they put a calendar in a recent issue, which was actually the best value of the whole lot. I don't mind if they want to sell rubbish, but at least give me the chance to see that it's rubbish before I buy it.

Yeah I used to buy everything, racking up about $100-$150 a month on magazines (car ones of course)
Realised it was getting silly, and now only buy Motor and maybe Wheels if there is an article or car that I want to see that Motor hasn't covered yet. Since I no longer have an older Ford, and get to excited/depressed when looking at them and their prices I stopped buying SM and SF to remove the temptation. |

Its not just the ford dedicated mags doin the same or similar articles on the same car , the aussie rodding mags do it as well
Nothin worse than getting that new copy of the latest mag and seeing the exact same thing in the oppositions mag Im kinda tempted to after years i dont wanna remember collectiong and buying these to give em the flick altogether, as im so over trailer queens and cars way outta reach of the average punter |

I know you mean. i'd like to see a mag with just street cars, two pages per car and heaps of them. you know like the cars everyone sees around town not just elite cars that you can eat off the under carriage. so sick of cheque book builds, of course anyone with a $100,000 can get a nice car built but most of us don't have that.

A mag i red fitted the above description.. "PERTH CAR MODDERS" or something like that.. - lots of street driven cars- heaps of feature stories.. although was a random mix of every make model.

Is it an EMG (Express Publications) title?
If so, it's just what they call a "TEAR SHEET" where they literally repurpose old editorial by ripping the fully designed pages out of the old magazines and compiling a "new" magazine with old content. Look out for the logo next time (on the barcode) and you'll be able to make a more informed purchase decision. |

All those mags are the same to me with the obligitory XY/W in every mag followed by a mustang or two & a couple of late model falcons. every now & then theres an escort or something different.
The sealed car magazines always seam to be a lucky dip if its going have anything decent, so I don't bother anymore. The only mag I really look for now is Muscle Car Magazine. |

Yeap for years I used to buy Wheels, Motor, Justcars, Uniquecars etc. I stopped with Wheels/Motor when I worked in the industry for a bit and realised how full of crap they actually where.
The only mags I buy now are Australian Muscle Car and Unique Cars...If I am traveling ill occasionally get Octane, Evo and a few other pommy cars. They are good other than the last 20 pages of adds..LOL

Yes Trippy, you are correct,it's by EMG and what you have described is pretty much what it is.I think there was only one car in there that I hadn't seen before and no doubt that will be in an upcoming issue of the Muscle Car Enthusiast word for word.
It looks like EMG stands for Expect More Garbage....

Unique cars is my favorite by far, Australian muscle car is good but not enough content, then street fords if desperate.

This used to happen with all the old Ford magazines about 10 or so years ago too. New cover, same old re hash on the inside. Nothing New.
I like the accosional magazine that comes about the GT history but how many times can you write about the same story. I like the Yank mags like Car Craft, Mustang & Fords. Also like grabbing Unique Cars too.

to produce another 1000 books, would take approximately 1 hour to do. printing machines and folders can run at 8000 an hour all day. the guillotining would take another 5-10 minutes and the stitching machine will comfortably run at between 3-5000. that is maybe $350-500 more for the extra 1000 magazines. the pre press and setting up of the machines which takes the most time and therefore money is irrelevant when looking at producing more. the delivery will probably not be much more expensive if indeed it is only $350-500 to print more (and 1000 is all that is needed), then that cost can probably be absorbed in case the magazine sells more than expected. it is possible (not sure how likely), that street fords will sell their excess stock to other publishers to place into plastic bags with 2 other mags not sure if this happens with aust. mags, but in the philippines you can buy muscle car mags from the states that although out of date by a few months, you only pay around $1.00 au for them. i would guess that after the mag is off the stands in the us, they sell the left overs to other countries very cheaply. they get some money back and the rest of the world can enjoy a mag (albeit a few months old) for an affordable price $5.00 a mag, is probably never going to be feasible, but due to the fact that extra quantity brings the unit cost down, it may then become attractive to them to annoy the customers by doubling up on mags. Theres only so much that can be said about 40 year old cars - and all of it has already been said before.

What US mags interest you all that are not available in Australia?
If I make my trip to Australia, that would be an easy item to bring along for trades or gifts.

I don't mind it either Nikked, but I want to be able to determine if it's a rehash and you can't do that when they hide it in a bag...
