Default Laser won’t start

I have a 1994 Ford laser 1.6 manual the engine use to cut out then sometimes start up again by dropping down the gears other times had to wait for a while then it would start until now when it cut out and doesn’t want to turn over. The ignition lights come on and can hear fuel pump and turn the key and nothing is there anyone who has had this problem or someone who can help me with this problem?

Similar issue happened to my 93 KH Laser, no spark at lead ends, ended up being the distributor module.

So you best start by checking for spark. Pending on your results will determine next steps. No spark could be module or even coil or connections in the ignition system.

Let us know how you go and we can try and work through it. Is it a KH or KJ laser?

Check battery voltage.
Check battery cables.
Check starter for power at main cable and switch terminal . check earth cable.bridge power to small wire and see if it turns over. Is coolant level normal.

So does it turn over alright or is it like the battery is flat and the starter won,t work,or it it turning over alright but just won,t fire. If the former, check battery terminals and starter motor connections,if its the latter the problem is almost certainly the ign module on the distributor.
