Default [VIC/NSW] Corowa Autofest + Great Alpine Road Cruise (28th Feb/1st March)

G'day Guys,

I'm organising a weekend of cruising around the Corowa Autofest event. This will involve a whole weekend of early starts and a lot of driving, but it should be worth it just for the cruise up Mt Buffalo and Mt Hotham.

Starting at 9am on Saturday the 28th of Feb, the Corowa Autofest will have a Show and Shine, Motokana, Burnouts, Stereo soundoff and Dyno challange.

The show will continue on sunday, but I would rather skip the second day for the cruise. People are welcome to do as they please though.

I will not be entering in any events, but people are welcome to if they want to.

Corowa Autofest Program

Corowa Autofest Entry Form

Accomodation will be required for those who would like to stay overnight to do the mountain cruise on Sunday.

Check this website for accomodation information. I would allow roughly $150 for a night at a decent place, most places are rated 3 stars.

The weekend will start early on Saturday - Meeting at 6am for a 7am departure. The first meet point will be the Bunnings/McDonalds car park on Pascoe Vale Rd in Broadmeadows.

Upon Departure, we will make our way to the Hume Hwy for the cruise to Corowa. Rest stops will be made along the way for fuel and food etc.

Once at the Autofest, you are free to do as you please. Arrangements for dinner and the following morning's cruise etc will be made on the day for those who choose to stay overnight for the cruise.

Sunday 1st of March Great Alpine Road Cruise

Departing at 7am from Corowa, travelling to Wangaratta where the Alpine Rd (B500) Starts.

This stage is approx 76km long not including the detour up the Mt Buffalo tourist Rd and back, and should have us in the town of Bright by 9am for a rest.

Leaving Bright at 10am, we will depart onto the B500 once again, and travel 110 kilometers through Hotham Heights to the town of Omeo for lunch at around 11am.

After lunch, we will leave Omeo at around 1pm travelling 122 kilometers to the town of Bairnsdale. After a rest, we will get onto the M1 for the drive back into Melbourne.

There will be two lists for this event, one for people going to the Autofest, and a second for people going onto the B500 cruise.

This is open to anyone who would like to join us. Everyone is welcome.

Cruise to Corowa Autofest:

1. Fairlane_Ghia

Cruise From Wangaratta to Bairnsdale:

More information will be added as required, but if there are any questions please let me know!

I will be buying a CB radio for this, I suggest other people should bring one too

Cheers,
Allen

Yes, the anticipation is killing me... :P
With any luck, I may have even washed the car before then!

little bit off topic, I'm in Adelaide but I'd love to do that trip at some time - I have never been to the Bright area but my wife has and she reckons the best time is when the Autumn leaves are falling. (obviously snow would be a problem doing it in winter) - Could I just ask if the road is sealed the whole way? Cheers and I'll look forward to seeing the photos.

Yeah, the road was fully sealed as of 10 years ago and is open throughout the year. Occasionally there are road closures pending severe weather.

And don't worry, I'll have plenty of photos... I don't think my 2GB SD card will be enough, I'll have to get another!

Bit of a bump guys.
If you are interested in coming along now is the time to start organising accomodation!

I'll be booking mine later this week.

Due to unforseen circumstances, I will have to cancel this cruise.

Could I have this thread deleted please?

If all goes well in the future, i'll organise an Alpine Road cruise later on this year.

After speaking to fairlane_ghia it has been decided to keep this thread open at this point while we are arranging for a club member to carry on with the organisation of this cruise.
