Default Another Great Ford customer service yarn

A mate just brought a BA Pursit Ute second hand, it has 30,000km on the clock, he also paid around 2k extra for a better warranty, now he needs to cough up $1400 for new brake rotors and fitting?

they told him discs arnt covered in the warranty? is this correct? looks like he will be putting on DBA 4000 series instead, could they be better then FPV's funny circular slotted rotors?

Discs are a servicable part. IE they wear, defiantly not under warranty.

Another person that buys a high performance premium car but dosn't want to fork to out fix it......

yep i agree

people need to stop with the sooking or have a good look at their warranty outline /booklet that they are given it will state in there that serviceable parts are
NOT covered by the extended warranty

just a thought people

Brakes are consumeables, like tyres. Go after market anyway. It would be cheaper and most likely better performance.

i my experience fords warranty is not worth the paper it is written on. ive had two clutches in 25 thousand ks that needed to be replaced. mind you had factory tyres till 35 thousand ks and clutch specialist told me it was the centre thrust bearing out of alignment.long story short ended me going to cosummer affairs . Plus cracks in side walls on tyres after 5 thousand they told me i put to much wieght on the back apparently on the front aswell .Then when ever i had some problem with my car i did not even bother just paid decent mechanic .Although my missus has a suzuki it covers everything absolutely everything . i checked this my self after my terrible expierences with ford . bottom line is once you have bought the car from ford they dont want to see you again unless they can get a service out of you.

I would buy a new ford if ther was an option lower price with no warranty

Wow, despite the pains of trying to make sense of this twaddle, I now feel dumber for having read it.

As for the discs, never covered by warranty for wear.

Brakes may be a consumeable item, but you're still entitled to get reasonable service out of them. Just depends how far you want to press the issue.

The front rotors on my '02 Tribute were undersize by 40,000kms. Mazda were surprised too, so they were replaced under warranty.

which of coarse anyone would . I then paid a driving intructor to inspect my driving he said it was fine and did not put any added strain on the clucth . that was after the clutch specialist had told me that the centre thrust bearing was not true (out of allignment) and the clutch was never completely released causing aggressive wear.
that was a manufacturing fault and they would not cover that.
I think i have a reason to be annoyed with the treatment i got

I think it also has a lot to do with where your take it. I took my March '04 ute to one dealer (the one I bought it off) who refused to accept there was a timing chain tensioner issue with the early BOSS engines and said that it was the oil used in the engine.

The next dealer took the engine number and booked it in under warranty. They also replaced a door rubber that had split. Hence why the next Ford I buy I will spend my hard earned with that dealer.

Wear n tear is not covered in most warranties. Brakes, pads, oils and fluids are not covered. Some things are the responsibilty of the owner to fix or replace.

**EDIT** the reason is that the that these items are used, can not be controlled by the manufacturer. Well that's the reason for the company I work for.

This was brian dunn ford in bendigo . I also took it there because i had a ticking sound they told me i had bent the diff they wanted $1700 to replace i refused said it not possible took it to another mechanic . He mesured it an the diff was out by 0.02 mm . that mechanic said a new diff would possibly be out by more . He than said that is not the problem the problem is it needs a hand brake adjustment that is what is causing the ticking ill do it for $20
i love my ford as much as the next guy. just had bad expierences with that dealer never been to another and never will

I just can't see it, how could they replace 1 clutch with another one with exactly the same problem... the chances are... well... you get the picture.. maybe you need to re evaluate how you co-ordinate your left foot with your right...?

4 x DBA4000s and pads are only about $700-$800 from AFF sponsor Race Brakes Sydney. Surely fitting is not another $600.

The new clutch done by the clutch specialist has seen me through 30 thousand ks. That same specialist wrote a letter for me to send to the head office . So did the driving intructor . I recieved an apoligy a cheque for 5 grand . proof read it twice .

As mentioned above brake rotors and pads are listed as consumables - unless there's a defect in them they're not even covered under Fords new car warranty let alone a used car warranty.

Since we've already gotten to the point of bagging each other out we'll close this thread.
