Default 2017 Police Cars

Just seen a short snippet on ACA re Commodores (what they use in SA) and what they are going to use from 2017...

Its a good point... What will they use?

Shut the department down, who needs highway patrol (power tripping boy racers in uniforms) anyway Govco is out of money and Surely the accountants would have figured that a strategic roadblock of Camries and Mitsubishi lancers would work just as well as they do overseas

They will go back to WRX's, probably some V8 Mustangs (QLD have used Monaros in the past) and whatever else comes into the country.

I don't understand why people (and the media) seem to keep on saying that Ford will replace the Falcon. Why? No one wants large cars (hence why the VF and 300C sell so poorly). Out of the 600 Falcon sales last month, most were probably low-profit fleets and Ford's own employees. I dare say that Holden are almost giving away VFs too.

Essentially, the replacements are the Focus, Mondeo and Edge. And for the empty-nesters middle-aged men who want RWD performance cars, there's the Mustang.

Same as now...Camrys, the odd Aurion (highway patrol) and Klugers.

Hell, cops aren't even allowed to chase bad guys now, so what's the point in having a 400+kw V8 sedan? They may as well drive Prius's...

I'm hoping they will bring Cadillacs over.... Might be an option... I'd imagine 300c would make an appearance being next to cheapest

The ford interceptors in the states are selling up a storm. Half the police vehicles since they went on sale are the fords with like 90% having the massive bonus of having constant AWD. They have far superior engineering in them, like bullet proofing, very very high speed rear end crash proofing, double the endurance testing, high speed wheels and heaps of other police pro things.

Considering the Eco boost engines and the cheaper ford branding(more so then euros in aus)..... It's hard to find a better police ready vehicle. 3 specs too

AwD sedan Taurus
AwD 4wd
Eco 2.0 sedan (most likely non pursuit duties)

the buying power of the police fleets in the State is so great that they arrange huge show-and-tell session where all the manufacturers come along with their offerings. The market is so huge that Ford design the car almost from scratch for the police. I doubt the numbers here justify a RHD version of these but they are pretty cool

Yeah some of those show n tell comparos are very cool to watch if you do a search.
And I didn't even think about the whole rhd to lhd conversion drama. I was just getting caught up in all the mustangs getting shipped over and thought.....chuck em on the same ship lol.
