I want to buy or do up a 3 window Ford 1932 coupe

[I want a '32]

Hi i am really starting to like the 1932 hotrods, im thinking of doing one up, does anyone know rough cost to do one up to show condition and if you know where abouts i can find old ones and the parts for it....Im totally new to this but its a hobby i want to start. If there is any info you think can help me, feel free. I like all the models from 1930 to about 1934 and mainly 3 window coupe, roadster, ALSO i LOVE THE SPEED STAR.. please any info let me know

My guess would be at least 70k for a showquality one,and more depending on driveline..

I can promise you two things.

1. It won't be cheap - I'd be budgeting +$80k to do a show one;
2. Old ones will be easier to find than new ones

might be easier and cheaper to start with a new fibre glass body kit and chassis.

Cost depends on how much of the work you can do yourself. If you buy a repro chassis and body and field all the work out to specialists, you are gonna need a fat (read very fat) wallet. The cheapest way to get into rodding would, in my opinion,would be to do a Rat Style T-Bucket. Rails can be bought pretty cheap as can the tub section. Swap meets are a good source for rare and desirable items. Kustoms are also a good way of blending in with the rods now but it hasnt always been this way. I could rant on for ages but i wont as my beer is going warm.

my uncle built a fibreglass T bucket for $16k
he painted it him self
assembled the auxillaries himself(headlights and other fun bits that are relativly easy)
he got it trimmed by sombody else
got the exhaust made by sombody else
got the chassis and tub and motor/gearbox/diff all asembled by Ian Cameron at Oxenford on the gold coast who is the chap who makes the fibreglass bodys and chassis (you can choose what stage he builds it to for you but the price is based on how far he goes)

the motor he chose was a freshly rebuilt but cheap 308 with a 3 speed auto behind it (the standard kingswood item)
he had a borgwarner single spinner in the rear which saved on costs

and just like that it had plenty of poke and sounded tuff and looked cool just like a divorced mid life crisis sufferer should LOL

Hey mate it really depends on what you want to
First thing you have to look at is steel or fiberglass
Fiberglass bodies are reasonably easy now to get and can be done up really well on a tight budget. There are also a few mobs now that are bringing in steel bodies for a 32 roadster they are around 15k. Also Original bodies are pretty hard to find now.

The next money guzzler is the chassie well really u kind of need this first, plenty of places make repo 32 rails but again $$$ can be more involved but u get what u want in e.g. pinched, cross members, boxed even stretched or shortened prob the best way to go.
The other is finding an original and fixing it up yourself but this can be very time consuming and you’re not garented you will be able to do what you want.
Pretty much from there you can run anything u want in them now.
Common choice for rear end is either a 9 inch or jag rear and allot of guys either run Windsor/Cleveland’s or for the sorry ones chevs ahaha.

All in all for a show quality steel one u looking around 60k
Fiberglass around 40-50K but all depends what u want to do and how fine to detail you are.. Ohh and also how fast you want to go.

Edit: if u need some advice PM i currently in the works with a 34 roadster and have a 36 on the road.

In regards to swapmeets there now is really only one there seems to be anything good for rodders now and that is ballarat.

ohh and have a look in cruzin mag they have some good stuff for sale in the back.
