Default New wheels for my XR.

Hi guys and gals,

Just fitted up a new set of wheels to my XR and I am in two minds about them.

What do you think?

I think they look good. Although the effect of the wheels will be enhanced with the lowering of the car.

They are fine. Just needs an inch or two out of the ride height...

I can see why you are in doubt with them. Personally, I think they don't suit the car. The rims look a little small, and the tyres too high a profile. But at the end of the day it's your call and there are plenty of people with silver AU's( myself included ) that can give you honest advice, after all, that's what this good forum is about! Good luck with it mate, your descision matters the most!

Yeah I must agree the car does need to be dropped a little but even at its current heoght it scrapes over some gutters.

The wheel is a Lenso Challenge.

Yes it is 17" and the are growing on me.

I like the style but they are too small IMHO. 18" or even 19" has become the standard these days.

not my cup of tea, but then not my car either. ultimately its your choice, if you like them, keep them, if not, change them. a good tip is if you go to tyre shops where they sell mags, more often then not they are all too happy to let you place the rims next to your car so you can see what they would look like (they will carry them out to your car of course). good idea if your thinking of new rims for you ride with out spending the cash and then regreting it.

I think they look bloody GREAT.

I am considering a similar style for my own silver AUII XR6 VCT once I get it from the dealership next week and have ironed out any immediate mechanical niggles.

The only thing I would do is drop the car an inch - and no more - but you are already planning that, so this is more an affirmation of what you want to do, than advice, I guess Good one!

I reckon they look pretty good, goes well with the car colour.
Lowered,the car would look goood!

If you want to check out how dozens of different wheels/sizes/mags look on your car, check out this link:
http://www.modifymycar.com/home.html

It is part of the mag and Turbo site in NZ, and that link takes you to a page with a flash proggy that lets you pick your model car, with a side on profile shot.
You can then choose your body colour,
Choose your ride height,
Choose your wheel/mag size
You can even change the colour of the brake caliper!

There are,I think 4 or 5 mag/wheel manufactureres to choose from, and I guess they would all be available in oz.

It's a great wee proggy that you can have a lot of fun with!Try lowering the ride height to real "ghetto" low-the old au starts looking real good!
Check it out.
Might give you some new ideas.

Hey, that's great fun.

Wheels look ok by the way. Personally I wouldn't go smaller than 18's on an AU. I ended up going 19x8. Like others have said, dump the suspension.
