I am trying to get a VASS Engineers Certificate for my left to right hand drive conversion. USA to Australia,
He is not doing any work on it, Its all been done, By professionals, So what is a reasonable or going price for the Certificate, Is it hundreds or thousands of dollars, A full roadworthy is $330-00 and takes 3 hours, |

I did an engine conversion/ body lift and bigger wheels and tyres on my 4x4 and it cost $800 to get it engineered.i also need weigh bridge ticket before he would do it

I paid 550 in Victoria, he did nothing other than assess a UK car for comp0liance prior to registration. Picked on a few things which I needed to remedy. This did not include assesment of modifications which I removed Prior. Another 500 was quoted to asses brake caliper brackets for aftermarket multi piston calipers.
(had to replace all safety belts as they dint have the ADR approval flag. However they were actually made in Australia...go figure) Hope this helps JP |

To get an engineer to inspect my '74 Javelin for LHD rego (not RHD conversion) cost me about $1500 for two visits. For a RHD conversion I'd suggest you would need to budget at least that much ..

The R/H/D conversion was done in the USA by a bloke that has a Car dealership in the USA and Queensland,.
This particular vehicle is an Oshkosh truck Chassis, With an RV built on it, By a RV manufacturer, Mine is the 3460th RV they have built, So they are not fly by nighters, and they are still in business making RV's, Thats all they do, RV's. The conversion was a matter of unbolting it from the left side and rebolting it back in on the right hand side, Everything was already there, Thats the way they make these truck chassis, It was delivered here ready to register, after it got a roadworthy, It was already checked out for being roadworthy in the states and has been converted for All Australian ADR's Compliance, I got quoted $2195-00 plus GST just for the Certificate, From a VASS Engineer, Which I think was over the top, I am in Melbourne so a Victorian VASS Engineer is required, Any names of Engineers that do these Certificates would be Appreciated, I do have the list from Vicroads, Thanks Brian, |
