Default Focus Price Reduction

Ford Australia has reduced the manufacturer's list price (MLP) of the Focus range and added a manual transmission to the Ambiente sedan.

More details as they become available.

Cheers

That is nice..

Any reason for the drop? Is supply still a problem or can the Foucs start to give the Mazda 3/ Corrolla a run?

Maybe, Ford has realised it cann;t price thier euros the same as Audi/BMW etc.Even though they are in now made in Thailand...
Buyers don't accept Ford has the same cred as Audi/BMW etc...Lets hope this sees a sales improvement...

Its time for Ford to be smart about their pricing (especially on models that come from Thailand)

have you checked the price of the focus against its competitors recently? it was already good value before this price reduction now it can only be a better bargain ford just need to get some more publisity in areas that females will see it and they will sell thousands

On the contrary, it's actually one of the most expensive cars in its class, has one of the smallest and least powerful engines, and comes with among the least amount of standard kit. Additionally, at $37k+ for the Titanium model, they're surely having a laugh. This price decrease will bring the Focus back inline with other manufacturers and hopefully boost their sales.

What I mean is...Focus prices are good, until the Titanium model..then prices get silly, That should be around $29990 drive away, not $35k plus. Its competing against VW etc, as VW's Golf ad says "but its not a Golf " I know its beating the old drum, Ford..ADVERTISE !!!!!

Now that Ford Thai production is coming on full steam, manufacturing cost reductions can be passed onto Aussie buyers.

$49,000 for Titanium Mondeo is a bit over the fence don't you think?

Good news. Puts Focus back on my shopping list. 5 speed sedan for wife for round town work is what we want, 1.6 not an issue.
Is it an admission that the 6 speed auto is an issue in the 1.6?

Yes..as I said " Ford shouldn't price their Euros ,like Audi/BMW etc. Mondeo is great, the new model coming is even better..But don't price it like Audi/BMW etc. Ford doesn't have the cred of prestige Euro cars.

Average Mondeo price in UK is around 25,000pounds current exchange rate
makes it $39k here..Factor in factory buying rate..might make it around $35k here. I cann't see $14k in shipping, delivery and dealer charges.. If it was around $40k drive away..sales would increase..or not ???

At $40k drive away it makes it extremely affordable for a vast majority of the population. I don't see why a Focus Titanium needs to be anymore than about $33k-$35k driveaway.

Probally is, but, if the price is too low, it could effect Falcon sales?

Base model focus has for quite a while been a few grand less than the others in its category. Ford website basically has it at $18990 now ($19990 - $1000 cash back). Holden has normally followed the others in reducing cruze prices, but is now starting to lead the pack. Low to mid 2000 sales a month aren't enough for Holden. After all a $15000 wholesale car with only 40% local input at 2500 sales a month, only equates to $15 million of local activity a month. Even beleivers in the labour government would have issues with current bang they are getting for their cruze buck. Without stronger cruze sales, Holden will continue to force prices lower for small cars, to justify their existence.

Remember, they get government assistance based on how big a hole they dig themselves into, not how good they can run a company.

The point is value adding.
That $15 million/mth local activity and $22 million/mth in imported parts generates
around $62 million/mth in retail sales that is a huge plus for Holden instead of Korea.

Yeap, you can buy a vastly superior German Made VW Golf for $21k DRIVEAWAY

And a Japanese built Lancer, Corolla etc

The Focus is a very ordinary vehicle, the market has spoken

It is good buying, bad for earlier buyes, the market has become a bloodbath

I believe the Focus is currently Europes #1 seller, that may need confirmation by the braintrust here.

Yeah not wrong will be painful for people that have already purchased, unfortunately it happens in new car sales. Good thing for Ford though.

I'm not sure how anyone can be saying Focus is an ordinary vehicle, when it is winning comparisons here in Australia & all around the world. EVERY single comparson done has Focus at the top. How is that Ordinary? I think you’re just putting Ford & Focus down just for the hell of it!!

The Focus is a good little car, just needs a bit bigger base engine and a more livelier colour palette. I think what is hurting it is it's size, I think it could of grown a bit in size for this model - but thats probably not a bad thing for some buyers, some small cars are getting quite big.

I suggest you go live with one for a while, they are British and odd.

The suspension/ride is well sorted

1.6L is inadequate for the Focus, it really shouldn't be an option.

Its the same engine in the base WS Fiesta, which weighs probably 300kg less than the Focus.

LW is certainly a crap load better than the previous LV when it comes to design and build quality though, the South African ones anyway, not sure about German XR5 as I've never been in one.

The way 95% of people drive these days, you could stick a 0.5 litre engine and still more than keep up with traffic. a 1.6 is certainly not inadequate...sadly.

I feel like an absolute rocket in my diesel triton these days!
