Default Love the current falcon advert!

Just saw the 50th anniversary falcon advert, boasting about 50 years of falcon, falcon firsts, EcoBoost and other fuel saving qualities. People clap as a G6E coasts around the city with the driver smiling and acknowledging the adulation. Ends with the car driving through some ribbons on a bridge, Voice states that falcon will continue to lead the way for firsts in Australian cars.
It sent a shiver up my spine! Loved it! Really hits home with the buying public(I think)
the recent ads have been great, this one tops it off majorly.
Peoples thoughts?

Saw it last night as well. Thought it got the point over in a very measured and nicely made ad

Saw it last night.
I like it. Understated and classy.

Yes they are the new 19s 50th anniversary ones with dark inserts. Standard on G6E 50 and G6ET 50

I like how they have advertised the EcoBoost and given it some ackowledgement. Selling the 4banger falcon won't be the easiest job in the world, so starting early with a great ad like this is a good start.

Yep, it's great. It gives me a proud feeling when I see this ad. WEIRD. Coming from a family that traditionally buys Holdens But now I like both H and F. Any Falcon before the 80s and after AU. Especially FG's

I personally find the ad little uninspiring unfortunately. They are taking a very modest approach which is typically Ford, but in advertising modesty doesn’t always easily translate well, nor achieve the desired attention of it's viewers. As Ford enthusiasts we are paying attention and proud of this achievement, but the average viewer probably just sees a few random and unlikely people (children and yound women) clapping, quietly acknowledging this achievement while going about their daily business with little fuss at all. I think the ad would have had a much greater impact with some escalation of onlookers observing and applauding the featured car. Ending with a much larger crowd of onlookers upstanding, and applauding what is actually a significant Australian automotive achievement. Some may say this approach is over the top however I personally think it’s justified.

That is exactly what I imagined they would do when I read the first post, more and more people clapping and applauding the car in the streets- yet it was quite...boring? Still a good ad by Ford's standards, but as a celebration of 50 years they didn't seem too upbeat. 6/10 from me, they could have done alot better in making the point of 50 years, something like Holden did with the VE ute where it morphed from the earliest Holden ute through the years and past models into the current 'evolved' ute. Something bold like that would have gotten people's attention!

I suppose they are playing the "humble" card.
Trying to quietly be the "bigger man" by not raving from the rooftop about being 50.
It was a good ad nonetheless but as much as I loved it, I think they could have done a bit more. CDAA made a good point there too.

Lame. This was a once in a 50 year event and this is the best they could come up with?

Only a handful of cars have reached this milestone, what a forgettable ad.

I would of gone all out, show the first falcon coming off the production line, show the falcons over the years in various important milestones in australia. Or they they could have run clips from all the old ads and pieced them together to make a 30 sec timeline.

Or maybe have a 1960 Falcon drive down the road, and overlay the image with audio with news sound-bites from the time, as the falcon is driving it morphs into being each successive generation, you hear breaking news of Kennedy being shot and the Falcon has morphed into the 67 model, likewise you hear Armstrong's famous words, you hear whitlam government being fired from the govenor general etc. Maybe hear Hawke after the Americas cup win. The Falcon grows, adapts and changes with the times, its also a timely reminder how trusted and dependable the Falcon is as a brand in a world which has changed so much and also show how far the falcon has come.

I think its a very good add, makes walking fingers look like a joke, and promotes the car without screaming about it.

I'm guessing that, like many of these types of adds, it will be build on by other adds of the same theme. I'm guessing that this is not the only thing that they will be doing for the 50th anniversary.

Good start in my opinion

i also think for a 50 th anniversary they could have wooped it up a bit, not that it was bad but a bit understated for sure.........

might make a bit more fuss at the 100 year anniversery.. lol

-Oh and that is the gladesville bridge/huntly's point bridge and is heading city bound.

Think commonwhore had a good birthday ad when it showed it morphing early 80's-late -2009.

EDIT: The guy drives out of our building too! Down Shelley Street in Sydney! I wonder how I missed the shooting; must've been on a weekend. Nice use of location if they meant it, our building is one of the few 6 star energy efficient buildings in Sydney amongst winning many design and style awards.

As for the ad, I agree, needs more happening. There are so many more "firsts" worth mentioning. Its doesnt get your heart pumping or racing.

for 50 years of history... it only mentions the last 2 years of achievements?

it's an ok ad... obviously part of a broader campaign... so hopefully they delve a little deeper into the history...

Mentioning next years ecoboost enhancements can't be good for current sales.

They only mentioned a couple of highlights after being around for 50 years and one of those iPod integration (what the..?). Undertands they are trying to be relevant, but nowadays thats like boasting you have electric windows.

Thanks mate, I remember that ad now, great ad, bear in mind though ford where hurting from the AU, and the BA had all new everything, motors, body design etc, they needed impact and they got it.
FG II is new(ish) but not in the same vein.
