Default What was your first car?

What was your first car and (if YOU bought it) did you buy it before, when you got it, after or well after you got your licence?

'89 Excel for me, got a good one though, I got it of my dad's mechanic, who had virtually fixed everything that needed it, he was going to give it to his daughter, she didn't want it, so I bought it. Wasn't flash, but a good car to learn how to drive a manual (both of my parents cars were autos) and it never let me down.

1993 Corolla. Went in half with the Parents in 1993. The car still drives, and is onto another family member as a first car.

1987 F100 4spd Man with a 302 Windsor [I think]. My father passed it down to me when he got his NPR200 a month before I got my license.

I know all about that, I mean mine wasn't much at all really, and if I still had it, it probably would have cost me a bucket to keep on the road, but sometimes, just sometimes I miss the driving a cheap, basic, small, manual car that if you scratch it you don't care, you can park it anywhere without worrying about some muppet hitting it with their door or a shopping trolley.

89 Laser Redline in Monza Red.

$14,500 brand new in 1989. Got it a year after getting my licence, had the old mans XF Fairmont Ghia or the XY Falcon to drive before (and after) I got it.

Ive posted this on another 2 threads on this forum but I only found the photos of her again the other day so i'm back in lust with my ute but go easy on me it was the 80's and built on a letter box deliveres earnings

This was my first attempet at a project car, when i got it it was rusty from under the drivers & passanger seats and under the fuel tanks (pretty common) the rule in my house was no 8's on my P's (my parrents were ahead of their time it seems) so it had cam extracters and Holley 500, 3sp colom shift manual (woo hoo) I painted it in acrillic in the neuighbors shed, I had the trim re done in black it was lowered 2.5" front 2" at the rear, the 6 & 8" hotwires were on my dads ZG when he got it so I swaped him for some GXL Alloys, a few other trick custom tuches such as station wagon rear bumper, and as I couldnt aford to replace the broken GS fuel cap I got a chrom lockign one and painted it black with a little chrome cut out

She was sold 4 years later to fund a Marshell JCM 800 I didnt think alot abotu that transaction because the stack wouldnt fit in the boot of my ZK

I still miss it to quote Mr Banner this car was my group of mates "camp fire" after school you could always find a 1/2 dozen year 10 kids listening to the Angels, Midnight oil and the Hoodoo gurus and messing arround with grinders welders and all maner of in apropriat tools for un skilled teens, I was proud as hell of this car I often wonder what ever happend to her, she served me well

Datsun Sunny Sedan - All 1.2L of it...... Mnaual too.

What gets the laughs normally when I mention that car, is from peoples thoughts on how I ever fitted in the thing.
(@ 17 I was 6 foot 6 inches and 120+ KGs)

I had it for almost 2 years, could kill it with acid or an axe.... best $1500 I ever spent.

Hi All

First car while on L's and when I got my licence was a 1962 ? EJ sedan, purchased in 1974 for $200.
Wonderful car lol.
Hi tech 138 cu inch grey motor.
Three on the tree transmission ( no synchro on first )
0 - 60 mph in about 10 minutes.
Powerful, all wheel drum brakes. ( great for going down the Clyde Mountain
to Batemans Bay in summer - anyone for brake fade. )
Ironically, the car was totally straight, original and rust free ( being a Canberra car ).
I should have kept it as a small investment, but nobody knew back then ....

First car was an XA coupe.

Bought by my brother but paid for by my mum. Only 1800 bucks though.

The first car I actually bought was my third car, an EA I bought from my brother.

My first car was a 1975 Jaguar XJ6 Series II - "The Beast"

I have to this day still never driven a car that drove so well on the freeways.
(Parking a 5+ metre long car and english car in 30+ heat though is another thing lol)

I wish I still had it but damn ex's grrrrrrr

In 1991, my first car was a 76 Ford Escort 2-door 1.3 litre in kermit green.

I put a bored out 1.6litre, cam, extractors, 32.36 weber, Ghia interior, Ghia alloys, RS half-bumpers, gutted it, cut out all the rust and repainted it Festiva Blue (Liquid Azure Mica Metallic.) Was a ripper of a car.

I sold that in 97 an bought a "modern" 94 Integra VTIR and never went back...til I bought my Focus Zetec in 2007.
