Default Ford Bronco Late 2021 from $90k

"It seems good things will come to those who wait, with Crossover Car Conversions confirming to Practical Motoring that it will bring the new 2021 Ford Bronco to Australia next year, with orders ready waiting and open books for those keen on a new Bronco.

While not a factory-approved right-hand drive conversion, the company based in Melbourne has been converting Mustang, F-Series trucks and more since 1990.

Speaking with us, CCC said that there were already customers ready to go and more interested though supply in the US is an issue until 2021. Currently, all stock has been sold out, and so it will be next year when Australians can properly order any spec they want.

The price range for a brand-new Bronco converted to right-hand drive is from approximately $90,000 to $150,000 depending on the choice of two or four doors and trim levels ranging from the basic Base, Big Bend, Black Diamond, Outer Banks, Badlands and Wildtrak. Some spec have 35-inch tyres on 17-inch beadlock alloys. This gives the Bronco 295mm ground clearance with 43.2-degrees approach, 37.2-degree departure and 29-degree break-over angles. Wading depth in water is 850m.

We’re told the process to engineer the conversion will take around six months and a Bronco is yet to land into the workshop, so the ETA on models being delivered into customers’ hands is looking like the late-2021.

We can’t wait to see these things on the road here, and we continue to wonder if Ford has missed a trick in convincing the powers that be to factory RHD convert, like with the Mustang. If we’re really lucky, Nissan will also go ahead."

Given that they're not much of a performance car (outright grunt) - or tow vehicle, is there enough about it to justify paying almost 6 figures for it?

I suppose people were buying Camaro's when they could buy a Mustang a fair bit cheaper - surely you'd probably just buy a Wrangler or something and pocket the 30k saving?

With the Ecoboost V6 it will still go better than just about any other proper off-roader out there. But that's not what it is about at all. It will go places just about no other off-roader will go.

The Wrangler is it's only real competitor and it's just the crappy Pentastar V6. And they are horrid on-road. The Land Rover Defender is probably that sort of car as well. But they are fairly pricey, so will come in at a similar price level for the mid to upper range vehicles.

It's one of those vehicles that is iconic and different. People are willing to pay to tap into that.

It does suck that it doesn't come in factory RHD though. Especially considering how much work was done on it here in Australia.

How much Bronco DNA will make its way into the new Everest when it is refreshed I wonder.

Yeah nah.
The appeal of the F150, Bronco, etc, etc, has always been they fill a role and represent awesome bang for buck.
Granted, the reborn model is probably more niche, but with a US starting price of $30k, its still reasonably priced.

People saying "oh it could easily be RHD" are forgetting how complex modern cars are, and the huge number of things that need to be resigned and re-engineered. Just because the basic mechanicals could easily be RHD, doesn't necessarily mean the rest is easy nor cheap.

FoA is lucky, in that they have replaced the Falcon with the Ranger. They're not about to offer anything that would compete with that. Whether that logic is valid, I question, but that's how they look at it.

There will always be a market for things like the RAM, because CUBs need something to spent their money on, now they can't buy V8 Commodes, and a lot of them have really small Penii.

Beware guys! Don’t use the public urinals when you’re in Perth, north of the river!

People have been saying that for around 30 years now.

'Cottaging'?

Anyway surely given this is on the same platform as the Ranger, how hard would the RHD conversion be? I'd imagine there would be some similar components.

Only if the Cam Phaser issue is sorted

Trouble I see with these proper 4WD offerings is they all need to meet ADRs and all are pricy for something you want to take bush.

You forgot to mention 70 series - also very pricy and not so nice on road.

I would imagine this Bronco wouldn't be the best on the road either

It's miles better than a Wrangler or 70 series. Like a Ranger is really.

I wouldn't put the 70 in the same class because it's miles bigger.

I don’t know what the fuss is, lots of buyers gladly pay a premium to get Ranger.
Sure, it’s a shame no factory RHD Bronco but one will be available for those who
are willing to pay.

If that was their reasoning, i'd say they've got it wrong.

I have absolutely no desire to buy a ute.

A purpose built off roader? Would love one.
Jeep is now the only one available in Australia, and... yeah nah.
