Looking at the parts cat.

I assume that will only fit if the I6 is VCT. The stock mechanism is different between the std I6 and VCT I6.

VCT and V8 mech is the same.

If you have a T5, any T5 shifter will fit.
I thin kit was the AU when ford started to use the Tremec TR-3650, that would be why the V8 one didnt fit.

Having said that, this one looks quite cheaply made.
I think I've seen this one in many different colours advertised on US ebay. Most likely some generic POS.

Tremec TR-3650 were only available on AU3 models and later. They also have a totally different extension housing to the T5.

T5 info from microcat

That must only be something to do with spring strength, shift length, etc.
I'm 100% that any T5 shifter will work on any T5. The extension housing on the AU T5 was different to the previous design (XF-EL) by means of the shifter being located approx 50mm rearward.

But obviously I don't expect anyone to take my word for it over the internet, it would be best to ring a gearbox repairer and check with them. Or someone local who sells / has sold T5 short shifters.

I thought the TR-3650 was only put in the TE/S-50's and the Pursuit 250

Yeah they were.

I was just showing that there was a difference between a I6 T5 and a V8 T5.

The only difference of the I6 T5 to the V8 T5 is the gear ratios and input shaft length. The shifter is still identical in terms of physically fitting the gearbox.
The only thing that has changed on the shifter to warrant a new part number are minor design reviews to change the 'feel' of the shift or to shorten the shift.

Any after-market shifter for a T5 will fit any T5.

The shifters for the T5 and TR-3650 are not interchangeable.

So considering the OP has an AU I6, the gearbox is definitely a T5 and therefore the shifter he linked to will fit.

GK, I haven't see one of these in real life, but as somebody else said, they do look cheaply made.

I went for a Billet Industries short shifter. It was a little more expensive compared with the one you are looking at, but they are a quality item.

How much did you pay for said item?

Cheers.

I can recommend the rip shift brand, I have one in my TE and it is great. Similar money to the one Peuty has..around $400 and is better built than the one shown in pics above IMO
