you mean Double Demerits?

where demerit points for speeding and seat belt offences are doubled?

this happens every holiday period... at least in NSW, i thought this might have been an Australia wide thing?

Over here in W.A we have Double demerits every long weekend/holiday. Thank god it didn't apply to mobile phones over the christmas break. $250 fine is pretty huge but. First time I had lost points for 4 years.

Double demerit points/fines apply for speeding/not wearing a seatbelt in NSW, for other offences an extra point stands for any offence during that period, which by the way often strats at 1700 hrs before the weekend, ie today, and ends at 00:00 hrs on the Mon night/Tues morning after the weekend, plus double fines for speeding.. take care in NSW people..

I think its a great tool to help eaz the the road tool over the long weekends, if they doubled the ticket price we would all scream about revenue raising but lifting the points scares us to SLOW THE HELL DOWN

There are no Double Demerit system in Qld. There is a push for it up here by a few.
The Qld Police Commissioner was on the ABC News the other night & said the was no conclusive proof that the DDS had any effect on Road Safety Stats and they were still studying the stats from other stats.
His speech and demeanor left me with the impression that the DD System based on the information he had was not working............

“Actually it was just call “Gull”, because I named it that. Because we knew it was going to poo on everything”.

All cars in the garage. Best place for them to be over Easter. Went down the holiday house last weekend and will go next weekend. So now just kicking back at home, mates coming over later, bbq'd barra and beer.

For those on the roads, take it wasy. I saw 4 cop cars (2 x RBT setups and 2 mobile HWP in 4 k's this morning - and that was just getting the ice).

No double demerits in Vic, but they're talking about it. Heck they may have snuck it through parliament, those pollies need extra revenue to fund their retirement perks!

Okay, okay call me cynical! LOL!

Saw a police officer off his bike this morning, on the footpath, partially hidden by trees, getting ready to book people as they came down the overpass near my place. Disgrace. If he'd set up another 100-200 metres down the road, not an argument from me. But sitting there knowing people usually carry a bit of extra speed coming down an overpass is theft IMO.
