Exclamation Rattling LR...Problem Found

For months I have wondered what is that damn rattling noise in mcdonalds drive thru. Mind you not till yesterday i checked out my car. Could it be my after market exhaust loose? Jacked up the car all bolts are tight. Opened the bonnet, started the car. No rattling! Played with the throttle body to give it some revs. When the revs are dropping *rattle rattle* FOUND THE PROBLEM....the cermaic part of the cat is loose...took it to Ford today, they checked it, need a new cat....so Monday i should have a new cat and a quiet Focus again (besides the exhaust note). Just thought i would share my little adventure with you all.

Interesting. Mine has what seems to be the standard far LR rattle in the back and I actually think it may be the exhaust, but after this Ill certainly be asking to have the cat looked at.

Interesting to hear. I had a rattle issue with one of my mufflers, but I just got the exhaust replaced with a high flowing unit instead.

Thanks for the info, in case more people have this problem.

Oh yeah that rattle is pretty common, the heat shield around those cats gets stuffed all the time

Also check the actual mountings for the exhaust havent broken, both of those happened to me.

I had my cat replaced a month ago... but it just died...

as for the rear rattle - the locking pin on the boot latch is too small for the lock, just wrap 6-7 revolutions of duct-tape around the pin, bob's you're aunty no more rattles!!
