Hi Guys,
Picked up my Koni shocks for my S1 Fairmont GHIA the other day. Reds for the front & yellows for the back with IRS... Got a problem!!!! The reds I fitted yesterday & are fine.... Drives nice on the soft setting!!! Am waiting for the yellows to go on till I adjust... The yellows I tried to fit today & they didn't fit!!!!!! When I say they didn't fit, the top of the shaft on the shock won't go through the top shock mount hole..... the shaft diameter on the shock seems to be bigger than the diameter of the shock mount????? The part number for the rear shocks is 8241 1167SPORT. Do I have the right Shocks??? Has this happened to anyone else??? : |

They are the right ones according to the Koni website.

The shaft seems heaps bigger than the shagged monroe's....
I thought they were the right ones too!!!! |

Chopped fairmont! Seriously though, is the correct part number written on the shocks? Maybe they got packaged wrong.

Also, not completely related, but I did some mining on the original post I did regarding Koni's for my AU....and just noticed that the part numbers for AU's with IRS (aufairmontghia) as opposed to Live Axle (me) are different at the front?? I would have thought that all AU's would have the same front end part.......

Changing post too:
The part numbers you gave are the same, just missing a letter or two. The front are the same for all AU's only difference is series 2 on got a lug welded to slip the brake hose in.

You must drill the hole out in the mount , it is only soft and does not take much to drill

Quick question on the top shock mount.
I'll drill them out with a 12mm drill bit when I fit up the Koni's again!!! Now I replaced the top shock mounts not too long ago & are in good condition. If the centre section spins while drilling does that mean they have seperated from the housing & are stuffed???? Or are they still OK???? |

MMM Sounds very interesting there!!!
The other thing I sussed out was the rear top shock mounts from an AU with live axle..... They look very similar BUT who knows!!!!! |

Have you thought about getting a professional to install them? that way if any problems, it's on their heads (and cost) to fix?!

hmm i got koni yellow adjustables (sport) just damper adjustable not height. i have them all round they fit... of corse i got fulcrum to install it all.
