what temperature, is best to set my thermo switch, for the fans to kick in?
i just fitted them the other day not many problems. just little, easy to fix ones hope they are as good as everyone has said they are Damon |

what ever makes you comfortable, before reaching half would be a good idea.

Got mine set just under half, when they come on, it takes the temp back to quarter pretty much straight away. Hate my car running half or more!

thermostats in the e-series are 91 to 95 pending brand from what I have seen.

Standard thermostat temp from ford is 91deg celsius. The Tridant ones from coventry are 92deg C and the ones I buy from Repco are 91deg C. I have an 82deg C thermostat in mine and a thermo switch from a Subaru of some description that comes on at 95deg C and off at 90 deg C.
Sounds a bit miss matched, I know, but it works perfectly for me. Fans come on at the top of the 'R' and off at the bottom of the 'R' then the temp normally continues to drop to middle of the 'O' on the guage after the fans turn off. Perfect. Problem is, the only way I found all this out was trial and error. I wanted to have a thermo switch that screwed into that unused hole in the thermostat housing so it had to be short and have a thread of M16x1.5 to fit and then I had to also find a temp that would work. Anyway thats what worked for me, hope it helps. |

On the Davies Craig switch its a dial type setup, anti-clockwise to come on sooner, clockwise to come on later, in the middle is roughly when your gauge reads about half.
Otherwise like BI6TIM said, buy a fan switch, (I was going to put it in the same place also.), but found the D.C switch works well, and is adjustable. Cheers ViGiLaNtE351

I think I have my fans set to come on at 92 and off at 87, or something like that (Haltech), which is just on the 'N' in Normal and off halfway between the 'N' and the bar to the left on my gauge, so it seems that either my temp sender, BI6TIMs sender, or either of our gauges is a bit out....
