Hulk some of your observations to me tag you as a 'relic'. I can call you that, as I tag myself a 'relic'. Many on here are. Many of the observations you've made were true once with the majority. And still are amongst many of the mid-elder generations today. But take a survey and see how many kids these days care less. 'Its like the other day when my high school daughter said to me 'nobody wears a watch dad!'. What the? Things are changing rapidly and the car is losing it's pedestal. The force is no longer strong with this one.

And please mate, enough climbing on the soapbox about 'prunes' in your threads, your history shows you have your own moments and have taken your threads to destruction many a time. Stick to the topic you're doing fine and don't engage.

That said, I quite enjoy your threads for the shallow debate they stir and I can't quite stop myself reading them. It's like R&R from the serious stuff. It's interesting to peer into your mind and your thought processes, and reflect on my own in the process.

Did you turn up to meet him in a C63?

Hulk threads can rub me a little the wrong way, but they are sure damn entertaining! However to be fair, he is a reflection on how a good portion of the younger (confirmation I'm now old?!) male population think.

Perceived status at varying level does count in what cars you may own, or aspire to own. If it didn't, there wouldn't be too many threads or photos of members cars on here. The fact a good number bag out an Aurion vs Falcons, is kinda the same thing as bagging the guy for wanting a C63 over a Falcon.

(Disclaimer: The Aurion is the devil incarnate of the automotive enthusiasts world and deserves all crap sling it's way!)

its a two way street. from where i sit, the lack of respect and dogged insinuations are going in both directions, and if anything Hulk is copping much more than he is giving.

I understand what you are saying Rob, if it were a one off thread I would be far more forgiving and understanding. But these insinuations are becoming a pattern in 90% of Hulks threads and it's becoming tiresome.

i realise that Shav, but they are only that way because people respond. you can't have a discussion with yourself.

too many on here 'play the man, not the ball', so to speak. if I or any other number of members started similar discussions, they would not be the same.

there is some merit to a lot of the discussions that are started.

Some merit yes, but there are a lot of his threads locked for a reason. There's also a reason why he has been banned multiple times too. So you can give credit where it's due, but you can't tell me he isn't rubbing people the wrong way has a legitimately good reason for it.

If his threads were less condescending and more supportive especially on a forum where the number 1 passion is Ford's, then I would have no issue and I wouldnt be the only one. But sadly they start off dubious, all to get a rouse out of others. Sadly, I believe he thrives off the drama that comes with his threads.

If you approach the threads for what they are worth they can be very entertaining, what more do you want.

Participate if you like or just sit back and read for a laugh or ignore them.

I don't think this one has been taken too seriously.

And as far as playing the man, his comments are designed and set up for us to deliver the punch lines.

They're now such an institution on the forum it's a dull day if there isn't a Hulk thread to check out.

It honestly seems like you have a terrible circle of friends.
You need to start being able to be happy with what you've got and not be influenced by this status thing.
There's more to life than cars, and if your only source of happiness is by having the latest car, etc. Then that's pretty sad

Mate you are deluded, it has nothing to do with affordability.

I hate to tell you but a family member recently bought a brand new SUV, its about two weeks old now, and they payed less that what my 40 year old daily driver is worth, so I had the choice, brand new SUV or 40 year old classic.

Come to think of it the engine alone in my XB Coupe is worth more than the whole SUV, and I payed cash for both , no credit, no loans.

So who is the pretender, the person getting a load to buy a disposable vehicle to not fall behind the pack, or the guy paying cash for a car worth more but older??

You make no sense what so ever. Re dropping kids of at school, I don't know how many kids want to get dropped off at their formal in a Toyota Aurion or Triton 4x4 because its new or a classic Muscle car??

You can say what you like but normal healthy people do not care what other drive, I have mates with brand new 120K 4x4's and I have mates with 20 year old commodores as daily drivers, but guess what the guy driving the commodore has two muscle cars and a harley in his shed on his property and he has no debt, the guy with the 120K 4x4, is drowning in debt, I wonder who is having a better quality of life?? The guy working to have fun or the guy working to keep up with the neighbour??

I have no no debt, don't owe anyone a cent and I can buy a AMG for cash if I wanted one, do I want one?? No, has never entered my mind, do I want a new car?? No I don't could not care less. Am I embarrassed driving an old car?? No I never have been, and I doubt I ever will be, I am not that lacking in my own life that I need a new car to make myself feel important.

Are my kids embarrassed?? Quite the opposite, they love the old cars, Was going to sell one and my daughter said, "no way dad that will be my car one day."

And if my kids were embarrassed to be seen on an old car, then the alternative is always to walk, kids have not contributed anything to society yet, and really are in no position to make demands on what sort of car they get dropped off in.

Q. Everyones buying a new car.... is it your turn?

A. No. Once Australian made Falcons are no longer made, I will be looking at buying second hand premium German brands.

TBH I am not even sure why I reply to these threads, it's like arguing with a spoiled 10 year old kid with no sense of reality.

Left behind the pack??

Left behind society??

Embarrassed because your car is more than 5 years old??

Seriously is your self confidence and self esteem that low??

It's disturbing me how often I agree with you these days Prydey!

The forum does allow Hulk a certain leeway, but that goes both ways in these threads.

I'll repeat something I've said before which just takes Prydey's point from the other perspective, 'play the ball, not the man'. If you're posting about the topic, you're good. If you're posting about the poster, while with these threads some leeway is allowed, it's best just to backspace and skip to the next thread. And return to be annoyed the next time because while you know it'll get you stirred, you can't quite seem to help opening the can of worms for a look

Or to save yourself, if you find resistance useless to that opening click, take Shav's advice
