Should be an auto then thanks for confirming. Pretty sure it is a wagon. Guys, a wagon.

Not me, I'm rotund, 110+ kg, 6ft and had no issues at all with my FG G6ET seat, height, bolster or wheel position. Sorry, I'm in the minority (if I was a mag reviewer which I am not)

True Al, but long enough. also came from a couple of Fairmonts BA BF so 7 years of the breed. The G6ET seats were very good for me I thought at the time. When doing 180's on the front of a semi , the bolsters kept me in my seat? (as the rear of the car was being used as a 'bolster' on the concrete barrier) Rigorous test I reckon

Disappointing result for Holden and their fans. Was expecting a little bit better but this just goes to prove that Ford are still No.1 in Australian built performance sedans

The dyno results shouldn't come as a surprise, it's never been fair to compare Ford's boosted I6 to Holden's NA V8, they are totally different instruments. Both have their pros and cons.

Just because it's not as potent as Ford's offering doesn't mean it's not potent at all.

What was the XR6T power figure? Otherwise it is quite a pointless comparison without one. I wouldn't have figured 17% drive train loss to be too bad.

Well there was one with 217RWKW, surely it can't be a freak motor? 47kW seems too high to be a factory tolerance issue.

It's a manual SS. I'm not sure if the HSV's are on the road just yet?

THAT IS INCREDIBLE PERFORMANCE FOR SUB 50K CARS .
thf sc fpv and gs . would not be much quicker . i think 12.9 stock was recorded with a best of 12.5 . for a gt . and 4.6sec to 100k . but thats $20k extra . and thats on 10 10ths . you wouldnt want to be off your game trying to get these times .
auxilerating performance for holden to match the xr6t with a NA V8 .

Hmmm, Ford thrashes holden on track in similar conditions.

Oh wait, lets do it again and we promise not to "fiddle" like you have caught us doing before.

Now they are virtually identical.

Ok, so where is Tracey and when is my ruling kitchen being fired......

Conditions look similar in the new test video too. I don't find it that hard to believe that the SS just wasn't as quick in the wet but performed much better on a dry, sticky drag track where it matched the XR6T. If they really wanted to 'fiddle' the figures it should've beaten the XR6T by 0.2 seconds down the 1/4 mile so some forum members on here could say it 'runs rings around it'

Yes you made that comment before but unfortunately the thread was closed before I could reply.

Your numbers of "not running rings" would allow a win at Bathurst by over 4 laps. Of course Bathurst does not have traffic lights or maccas and is more than 400m long with corners.

I would have thought that the two cars would be close to the same until I drove a 260kw SS auto and a 270kw XR6T. Admittedly the SS was a VE but the engine and trans are exactly the same as the new one just like the FG and FG2.......

IMHO Video evidence on current models (albeit provided by journos) > flappist's reported seat of the pants dyno on previous models. Sorry but I remain unconvinced

They are some damned good figures. Had no idea the 260KW AUTO AFM 6L was that quick - also had a very good terminal speed. We already know the XR6T FG ( BF F6 ) is a weapon - but that SS is eerily quick.

I guess VF really is lighter than VE ?

That commo time seems very suspect too me. I don't think the older 260kw model would get much under 5 sec too 100???? and that time is up there with the best of the clubbys. Just read on the ls1 forum that wheels got a 4.9 0-100 and 13.1 quarter for a manual 340 kw r8, hmmm why bother with the clubby if the old detuned ss can keep it honest

Of course you are.

As drive has an impeccible history of unbiased reporting which is of course supperted by many many threads on AFF I can understand your unwillingness to accept that maybe there is a bit of dodgyness going on.

Weird, of all the VEs I've seen at WSID, they all seem to go 13.7+ even when the conditions are perfect. Being that the mechanical package hasn't changed with VF, 13.1 seems mighty impressive, particularly for the AFM motor which in the past has struggled even getting into the 13s. My only thoughts are either this press car is special (wouldn't be a first for Holden and there is a lot riding on VF) or the slight weight loss combined with the new auto tune has made the difference.

Over the next few months we'll see what private cars are managing.

I cant wait to see the real world clubsport times. Very impressed so far with the press car. Even more impressed seeing them clock under 5 in the xr6t.
