you forgot the spigot bearing!!!! OMG slap one in and drive the bastard!!! ok ok it's your car, atleast you found what the problem was which is allways a good thing.

Best advice bar one thing. Get someone else to put the spigot in and do up the flywheel bolts.

true, with enough dish there wont be fly cut. im pretty sure the xr6t ones are fly cut to suit but with forgies im sure there will be a few options just make sure you run enough boost to make up for the really low comp :P

found out today all ba pistons have a floating gudgen pins, so the require a circlip. they wont go into au rods unless the series 3 came with the same set up?

Everyone makes mistakes mate, in this instance it would have been usefull to have a gregories on hand, but the fact that i've come this far with the car WITHOUT one surely implies that i can handle placing a bearing in and tightening 6 bolts. As i said before the bolts were tightened properly, it's simply the oversight of that bearing that caused them to loosen...

Efgiar: Yes there is slight play in the input shaft...

Well anyways guys the the Auto is almost done, so hopefully she'll be back on the road soon enough

Not always. You should locktite them.

Spiggot bearing is like not putting the brake pedal back in when doing the interior. It's an integral part of the 5 speed.

Did say Ba 'rods and pistons' ;) ...... i have seen quite a few naked ba motors as well as ef/au setups.

The Auto has been raised into position but we were having problems with the top shroud wedging itself against the flexplate. We had it bolted on but we couldn't turn the motor over by hand, so we hadto to pull it back a little and found the shroud has has it's corners bent. I'm either going to haveto get a new one or try and straighten this one out. Once this trans is in the car will be 99% finished, the other 1% include stuff like HU, HU facia etc...

Lack of a spigot won't loosen the flywheel bolts.

no but lack of spiggot bearing will make the noise. loosening of flywheel bolts can be anything, not done up tight enough for example, even with loctite it can still come off. using an incorrect locktite can do it also.

Even with no loctite they would of lasted longer. I've only put loctite on flywheel bolts once and never had an issue.

yeah but if the bolts were a little worn, had oil or grease in the thread it may not have cured proply, the fact is they have come out, use more loctite next time and ensure the bolts are clean.
