Ford assembles cars, they do not repair them and a dealer would not take delivery of a damaged vehicle.

LOL, car not being repaired before sale...Yeah right! You'd be surprised how many cars are repaired prior to delivery to yards or dealers.

You would be surprised what they will do. I would say most will be repaired and sold off. The buyer will nto even know it has ever been damaged.

Was talking to a few panel beaters today, apparently people have already got some sort of agreement with Ford to fix most of them.

Sorry to see everyone's damage. We had a hailstorm only a month ago or so and whilst our yard looked like it had snow in it (the hail was still there the next day!), the hail stones were luckily only small, so no damaged cars. But parts of the house were flooded but again luckily no permanent damage. Houses about 1k away had to pull out all their roof bats, so we did get lucky.

Hope all gets sorted out.

Sorry for going off topic but I have my house and 2 WRX's insured with Shannons. Prices are very competitive but for my XR50 they gave the most expensive quote from every insurance company I rang. They wanted about $950 for it. I went with RACQ who charged $516. What do you pay for your XR50?
But when it comes to claims, Shannons are awesome!

Most of those cars would have been in the Toll holding yard, not ford. Therefore it will be up to Toll's insurance to decide on repairs :(

Sorry to disappoint you but the cars I saw in the factory were out of dealer yards.

What do you think they do with cars that are accidently damaged on the production line?

They send them in to a repair area off line and they are fixed as good as new. They have panel beaters and a few full spray booths/ovens for the job.

All manufacturers do it, i've seen pictures of Lamborghinis undergoing the same process.

Also dealers do take cars damaged in transport, they send them off to their designated smash repairer and charge the transport company for the damage. I've known of a few cars my local dealers sent off to be fixed because of damage getting the cars on and off the trucks. Happened to 1 or 2 of my mates cars.

But Ford would not purposely send damaged cars to dealers. If they had any cars that may have been effected by hail damage they will check over every one of them in the holding yard at Broady before they are shipped off.

plus one vote john at JC dents, i used him heaps and used to call him god! i have a yankee on a flight as we speak helped us out heaps last storm, and all the good aussie blokes are flat out and the average ones suck, thats why they are looking for work.

i called into work to help by boss clean up some water damage and spent the rest of the dat writing quotes, had 9 cars lined up for quote at one stage!! hasent let up the last 3 days.

as for ford repairing brand new cars, i can say its 100% true and more common than than you would think, i know cos i have fixed many in the past,

you cant always blame an insurance company for repairs or wright off cars, you still need to be wary of the repairer doing the right job, and the right job isnt always the cheapest, ill just say dont rush into a panel shop make sure they have the quality to support the ins companys sign.

I have seen first hand two, 1 million dollar cars undergo resprays one had already been delivered to the owner, the other awaiting delivery before the imperfections were noticed.

The missus FG copped a few dents from the hail (we might try the PDR route as it very small dents). My car was lucky as we took it to her place were it only got wet and little bit of hail. I sorta with we took her car as I would rather my car was damaged.

But my street copped a bit of water (according to my neighbour who's yard copped water up to their thighs) and the FG's mags were under water...but none of the water got into the car so it was lucky in the end.

This is true.

Back in the early 90s when one of the new lazers was being released, they had a big hail storm like within a week of it's launch. 500 or so got damaged, they held onto them for a while and sold them off later that year, still damage.

Schissen, I just realised something. My one had the discs totally rust stained when I got back to the car. I have spoken to my mates' missus and she said that after the hail, the water level rose to knee height with the subsequent rain. This changes everything...

Not really. If the car has a high enough value and the water didn't exceed seat level and was fresh water, it may still be repaired.

Here was my poor baby just after the hailstorm. Rug over the roof with a rubberised backing, towels over the bonnet, under a tree, still didnt stop the hailstones damaging the car. As can be seen, the hail ripped straight through the tree bringing clumps of leaves and debris with them.

This is my worst dent, 100mm x 50mm x 3mm deep. I think the rug and towels did help prevent some damage, judging by damage on other cars parked there.

Colour is Nitro. The dent has cracked the paint at the fold, there's a sign of corrosion coming through now from one of the two longitudinal cracks (looking through a magnifying glass). The car won't be assessed until 25 Jan.

Just looked at mine, the rear one in the roof has cracked paint and is showing a hint of corrosion coming through.

Mine is being assessed on the 23rd.
