All these dead and dying unreliable VW's lining up the sides of our roads is certainly not doing anything positive in terms of a third world image either.

Where do you get that assumption from? As in dead or dying VW's?

Must say I do see quite a few late model VW's lying around out front of houses with no plates, looking very ordinary, even out here.

Various reliability reports.
https://www.honestjohn.co.uk/news/mi...-in-australia/
https://www.magicautorepairs.com/vol...n-reliability/
https://www.cashcarsbuyer.com/volkswagen-reliability/
https://www.carwow.co.uk/blog/most-a...rands-revealed

I could go on and on but just Google "VW reliability" (actually Google "VW unreliability"; I don't think "VW"and "reliability"ever go together) and ignore sites like JD Power that are card company sponsored. Also watch https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sZ_fsMqoV3M and https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yq-s...ertJohnCadogan

It's not out of concern for my own health, more so respect for the barista, they shouldn't have to wash and dry someone's keepcup before working their magic

Like if you take your car to a workshop, it should be clean inside.

I'm ruthless on our coffee run for the amigos with keepcups - you'll have it washed, dried and ready to go, or you're getting the disposable option and if you got a medium sized keepcup you'll be getting the appropriate sized beverage to fill it regardless of your wishes

I hate VW as well, nice cars but buy em new and turn em over as the warranty is up, but I'm old and jaded.

Or be prepared to have your cheeks clapped

It's true. Everyone in my family are obsessed with VW's apart from me. I keep it a little more reliable and like Jeep instead.
I'm the only one in my family who has never owned a VW. Based off their experiences I don't want to either.

I hope the SEC throw the book at them. Serves them right.

My sister had a Tiguan, an unreliable bucket of bolts. Spent so much time on the back of tow trucks and at the dealers. One day the dealer to the local car rental yard for a loan car and the rep from the car rental yard said they had 32 cars out on rental to the VW dealer.

See I hear more about those being unreliable than VW.

Each to their own I guess.

You could do that with any brand.

Sounds like someone has beef with VW to me.

Just replace vw with another
(I'm no vw fan BTW)

That's because Australians have been brainwashed. VW and Mercedes are just as bad or worse than Jeep, yet they are still seen as quality cars. I guess because they have the Euro badge.
